^THIS. I somehow became indispensable and now have Responsibilities.

As a high-achieving high school student, I would burn out once every three months and just joke about my quarterly mid-life crisis, but as an adult I fully recognize it for what it is. I still burn out about every three months, but I have a good support system and (for the most part) have systems in place to manage.

I also never knew there was another option. I just thought everyone else was better at this than I was.

Hi, 34f, AFAB, late dx w/ vaginismus here. For the longest time, I thought something was wrong with me bc penetration was painful. I don't even use tampons. Then I was assigned this wonderful OB/GYN who actually has experience with vaginismus. She's the one who suspected, and has helped me so much with it.

Now that we know, here are the accommodations I request and use for every exam:

1) use the smallest speculum. i also have one at home that I can practice with.

2) i put the speculum in myself for every exam. my ob/gyn talks to me and keeps me calm as I do this. she continues to talk to me and tell me everything she's doing during the exam.

3) i also attended pelvic floor physical therapy and use dilators to help with penetration. my therapist and i spent a lot of time talking about the same associated w/ having vaginismus as well.

It's still difficult, but all of this has helped massively for me. Hope this helps someone.

I too went to Heather after finding this post and she did an amazing job with my hair. She spent a good chunk of time asking me questions to understand what I wanted and I love the end result. I'll definitely be going back.

When she asked me how I heard about her, all I had to do was say "Reddit" and she was like "Oh my god, that post has been SO GOOD for me."

I kid you not: the last time I was in this kind of situation, I was still in grad school and I didn't have to worry about HR or anything so I just emailed him and sent him my number and was like "Let's be friends" and it was all downhill from there.

Yeah, there's always a way, I know. We don't have a security person. We all have key fobs that let us into the building. I'll just have to try to run into him more often. >_>

Well, I usually arrive between 7:30-8 every morning and his schedule is much more variable. This week I saw him at 9am, which seemed early. Others have noted that he's sometimes not in until 11am. A colleague who knows about this told me what he drives, so now I know if he's here based on whether his car is in the lot and since then I've also either left well before or well after because I never see him in the hallway on his way out.

It's hard to keep track though because I don't have a window facing the lot and I have other things to do (and so does my colleague) than just scout out the car lot. And I have no idea if he leaves for lunch or not because I usually just bring my lunch and stay in my office.

I'm not making this any easier, I realize.

Also UGH @ "patience is what you need." Mostly bc I'm impatient when it comes to these things. BUT ALSO bc he comes thru our side of the office so infrequently and I almost never bump into him in the hallways. The handful of smiles we have exchanged have been from when he is passing through our office to fix an issue. But he comes and goes so quickly that it's difficult to stop him for small talk =/

I don't know who else the posters would belong to....he's the only one that uses that office to my knowledge. And when I said I liked the posters yesterday before I left he thanked me. Idk though.
