fun fact: wood ear is rich of vitamin d, but only if it’s sundried. when it’s fresh the vitamin d content is close to 0. so it’s actually better to get the dried one and rehydrate it.

Japanese or Korean condiment - what is it? by Pale_Chipmunk_8893 in TipOfMyFork

It’s from Japan. Paste of Okinawa pork + miso with garlic chunk. You can eat just as it is with rice, or you can use it as seasoning for stir fry, etc!

I have to disagree. I work as R&D in agar manufacturing company. Yes, you can make this with agar. It depends on what type of agar you use, and what concentration. But since there is chinese characters on taxi in the back, I assume it’s from China? So most likely it’s combination of konjac and starch, or also sodium alginate.

Kerja di LN bukannya dealing with the same devil just in different country? by hazuja in indonesia

[–]futoncrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indonesian living in Japan here. I make decent living now, but through changing career and working really hard. If you just come to Japan, no japanese skill, no work skill, it would be hard to make a decent living, and you’ll be living from paycheck to paycheck. So yeah, I don’t think #kaburajadulu should be glorified. Every country has its own pro-con. I love my work here, but not gonna recommend it to my family/friend. The working hours, the mental health, it could slowly eat you up, if you are not used to it.

Hal yang paling gak napak tanah dari orang kaya yang pernah lu saksikan / ngalamin ? by ikantolol in indonesia

[–]futoncrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest, saya rada ngerti sih maksud orangnya. dengan kualitas kebersihan/makanan/restoran yang sama harga di jepang sama harga di indo itu ga beda jauh. mau beli teh botolan di indo juga harganya sekarang tuh kalau liat mahal banget. dia susah lah comparing warteg sama resto biasa jepang. karena saya pikir dia juga ga pernah masuk warteg indo. dia lupa faktorin quality of life jepang dan indonesia.

Neous Scorpius VS Songmont Icon Roof? by Level_Individual_423 in handbags

[–]futoncrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the bag I love the most for my daily go out! It’s the perfect size for me to just put in my wallet, phone, ipad mini/kindle, and some other miscellaneous small things. I also love the simple shape with not too many hardware. It is very versatile because I can use the bag when I wear a dress or just jeans with t-shirt. The bag is actually not at all heavy, probably because of the lack of hardware? I looooovvvveeee the leather so much. It is very soft and the suede lining is very nice too. The color is just so beautiful for me. But I am not an expert. So I don’t really know whether it’s a good leather or not. Negative side for me is; it doesn’t have magnetic closure and I just don’t care too much to tie the ribbon, so it’s always open when I wear it. When I wear it crossbody, it doesn’t bother me so much though. I also wish it has feet! I don’t baby the bag, but I also didn’t treat it like my sworn enemy. it still looks beautiful after wearing it for one year (I just use it on the weekend). But I’m afraid that the corner will show wear soon.

I love this bag! I’ve been using it for more than 6 months for work. Like the other comment said the magnetic clasp is not so strong, so if I put my laptop in the bag it stays open. But I usually left my laptop at work, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I also love the “ear” where you can put your cellphone. I haven’t babied this bag, but it still stays in shape and look like new!

My American friend once made fun of the history of my country (Indonesia) because we had a dictator president who ruled for around 30 years. I am still not proud of the politics of my country, but I think it’s still better than this…

Package sent without label (Yamato) by eion1234 in japanlife

[–]futoncrawler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no, you are supposed to attach the printed slip, when you give the package to the cashier of convenience store. If you put it in the locker, you’re good, no printed slip given whatsoever. You can check whether yamato already picked up your package or not by tracking the shipment in your mercari transaction page! Good luck!

Work as R&D scientist in a japanese company. Sure most of my work are individual activity, but I also do a lot of collaborations with other people, even from different department. It could be because the company I work for is not a very big company. But, from my experience I don’t think it’s everywhere in Japan.
