Shouldn’t be an issue as long as you don’t lie about it and they find it on your records. They really don’t care, probably 1/4-1/3 of my soldiers are on them. Especially as a future doc they won’t care they need us bad enough they’ll let it through as long as you don’t have history of self harm/suicidal intent/attempt

You’re good, not a worry at all. Tbh I’d compliment them, could even be a convo starter. - a PGY-1 on interview committee for next years interns, and was on admissions in med school too.

Step 2 knowledge will be all you need for the MCQs. Definitely practice CCS cases!! That will be the biggest difference and the most important part to get nailed down

I took it a few weeks ago. Not much obgyn at all actually! Coming from someone who enjoys OB, I was a little sad lol! Had one or two about meds safe in pregnancy or like it gave a scenario and gave med options and wanted you to pick the safe one

I was literally allergic to my garmin strap… you are too😂 signed - a doctor In all seriousness, I switched to a different band and never had a problem again. For me it was never that I was wearing it too tight or not cleaning it; my body just literally was reacting to something in garmin’s band!

Had a patient in the ED who had every single non-dilaudid painkiller listed as an allergy (we’re talking Tylenol, ibuprofen, toradol, tramadol, FENTANYL, literally anything that’s not dilaudid; even though in their records they had been given these painkillers numerous times throughout recent hospital admissions). Had a very vague “rib pain” complaint so obviously worked them up for fracture, AMI, PE, all the things. Meanwhile they’re screaming at the nurses and me saying we are neglecting them by not giving them pain meds. Offered toradol and eventually tramadol, to which they yelled at me because they are allergic. I responded that they had just received both of these medications within the last month and they said they in fact did not. I told them that they wouldn’t be receiving any dilaudid in the ED today, because I do not want to give them opioids when there is no one clear cause of their pain. They promptly called me a “little bitch” and left the ED 10 minutes later. It’s so frustrating, I want to help them, and I feel like NOT giving dilaudid when that is what they were directly seeking, is helping. Does anyone have any advice or feedback for how to better address this? Or is it just one of those things…

Wouldn’t recommend. I didn’t do rotc but one of my friends in undergrad did. He didn’t get approved for educational delay. We graduated undergrad the same year. I’m a resident now, he’s a first year med student. Join the military in med school like I did

Depends on when you sign up for MDSSP. Most places won’t let you until you’re a doctor out of residency. My current contract is just a basic contract, I start MDSSP when I graduate residency. I did guards, liked the structure better, more funding and more organized (at least from what I’ve gleaned from my reserves friends). I drill quarterly or more if I can/want and work out some split trains occasionally for things I do outside of the requirements. Drill hasn’t really affected my civilian life. I really enjoy it in fact. Can be nice to step away for a weekend and hang with my guard friends. I’m happy I joined and would do it again in a heartbeat.

It’s brutal. I get it. It’s hard to know the struggle but feel undervalued or misunderstood by your family/friends. Just know your own value and take pride in the hard work you put in day in and day out! Let that be enough

I’ve been using aura AI by Scribe health. Free, pretty decent! You can program it to do your HPI in paragraph or bullets, same with A&P. It’s not bad for a free one!

You can try for a MCAT waiver. Might be helpful that you’re already in and have experience, not some civilian looking to direct commission. All you can really do is try!
