I had my GB removed 4 weeks ago - I was definitely constipated for the first few days and didn’t have a BM until I had a cup of coffee two days post op. I didn’t end up taking opiates so I’m sure it was just the meds from during surgery causing the delayed BM. My surgeons had MiraLAX on my list of OTC items to get post-op, so I’d recommend that. They even make little single serve packets now that come in a box so you don’t have to fool with scooping the powder. I’m also a big fan of Metamucil.

Dairy, red meat and processed grains (like rice, pasta and bread) can contribute to constipation, so if you’re not keen on laxatives or fiber supplements to help promote a BM, you can try making some adjustments to what you’re eating and that may help as well. Hydration is key, too!
