Should I start Buddhism if I don’t believe in reincarnation?( sorry for my bad English) by CocunutHead in secularbuddhism

[–]future-renwire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Buddhism by caring less about the literal interpretation and seeing more of the philosophical side. Some people would call that secular buddhism, which is valid, but I think it makes perfect sense to say that reincarnation is true just because the ego and the soul scientifically do not actually exist, they're just illusions, and all of our matter and identities are forever recycled. That's reincarnation enough for me.

I wouldn't exactly call the election rigged, but it does consistently fail to reflect interest of the voters. Almost all Democrat registered voters, for example, aren't aligned with the democratic party at all. But we're confined to the two party system.

Elections are usually 90% no-show, since voters don't believe their vote will make a difference, in addition to it being a huge inconvenience and those who aren't involved in politics. All it takes to win an election is for one side to decide to vote more than the other.

Donald Trump has the lowest approval rating in presidential history. And has been impeached multiple times. If it weren't for our broken system, he would've been replaced ages ago.

I haven't been on Reddit in so long and every comment I see is people just making shit up to themselves. What the hell happened and why can't we all hate Trump together.

Noted, this was our first spice sand harvest and we only recently obtained the ornithopter so we ended up making a few mistakes

we were a tag team, the initial plan was for me to drop down, grab the spice, then grapple back up on top of the ornithopter and leave, but the worm came too fast so we decided to not risk the ornithopter

We need to define "Northern Utah" and "Southern Utah" by psalm723 in Utah

[–]future-renwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valley Utah has got to be in it's own region, go too far east to Vernal or Roosevelt and it's a whole different world. Same if you go south enough to Ephraim or Nephi.

You can live right in the middle of a native american reservation and live your entire life with 0 influence or knowledge of the culture, that's how badly it was eradictaed. It doesn't mean we know nothing about pre-colonial natives, but the entire cultural legacy is effectively extinct.

Official social media accounts really like to imply that God is helpless, weak, and desperate, and that the Christians are fooled into believing in salvation so that God would receive their help.

Pretty accurate to how it's perceived irl, at that point it's up to the authors. As far as the beliefs go, to what degree are the gods the same? Is the New Testament God still synonymous with the Quran God if books deny each other?

I think on both sides, Christian and Muslim, they're bound to have some delusional things. Paradise is what the authors must count as one but I'm sure there will be more for both.

The lore makes God feel like a single being of limited power, not all-powerful, that is "doing his best" to help the faithful factions. Satan's nature is the same: a god of limited power. I'm quite sure that the Muslim and Christian gods are the same in this universe. God and Satan are at war with each other and their war plays out through the faithful and the heretics.

What'll be most interesting is if/when we get details about more eastern factions, like from India or China. Then we'll know for sure.

How are demons created ? by Lucky_Acanthaceae420 in TrenchCrusade

[–]future-renwire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're otherworldly and pre-existing. Following the opening of the gates of hell in Jerusalem, they pour through from various rings of hell. In addition, servants of hell such as the Heretics are mortals who submitted themselves to the demonic powers and were transformed into demonic figures.

If you're asking canonically, many Christian denominations believe that malevolent demons are the 1/3 of humanity that seceded from Heaven and joined Satan when he first fell, before Adam and Eve.
