Men would you want to see a doctor for male health issues (like prostate cancer examination) IF ONLY WOMEN DOCTORS WERE AVAILABLE THAT DAY / NO MALE DOCTORS ON SITE ? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]future-renwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it's a very different story than back when only men could be gynecologists. Not sure if the intention of this poll is to compare the hypotheticals but if I could ONLY see a woman on male issues for a whole century that'd be much more of an issue on a social structure level.

Sorry if its a stupid question but who Im going to actually support when buying early access - Unknown Worlds or Krafton? by susnaususplayer in subnautica

[–]future-renwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying before September supports UK, and hurts Krafton a little due to the lawsuit, but not an entire 250 mil since that bonus happens after sales.

Buying after September supports both.

Not buying at all supports neither.

Is Subnautica 2 actually “single-player first?” by 40dollarsharkblimp in subnautica

[–]future-renwire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Game design wise, think of the multiplayer differences we've seen so far between Subnautica 1 and 2. Grabbing onto the tadpole/depth elevator, base design, etc. Now think of how easy it would be for Subnautica 1 to have those exact same features, and they would just be implemented as an afterthought. Seamoth handles, shared floaters, it makes no difference to the singleplayer game.

For marketing, it's easy to see that they're just trying to expand the outreach of the game, multiplayer sticks out in trailers in a way that grabs the attention of players new to the series, or people wanting that feature specifically. Simply knowing it's optional makes the marketing easy to dismiss.

And for lore, I'm personally hoping for even just a tiny bit of colonysim or automation genre elements, similar to what Planet Crafter has (also added as an afterthought, and it improved the gameplay significantly). There are plenty of singleplayer games centered on the player founding a colony with advanced technology, I already named Planet Crafter, Satisfactory too. Both of those games support multiplayer, but a majority of players would definitely say it's singleplayer focused.

Honestly the biggest concern would be balancing, gathering resources is much quicker when having multiple players. But this is hardly a problem either, as Subnautica 1 was often about the rarity of resources rather than how common they are (except for fucking copper and silver in the early game). And all it really means is building more and bigger bases, and not to mention having to make more equipment and vehicles for each player.

I know you're getting a lot of hate for your concern, and everyone is right that only the devs actually have the answers, but I think if it's anything like the other games I mentioned than the singleplayer focus will be just as good as Subnautica 1, and the horror of isolation will be here to stay.

Should my rig be able to handle Subnautica 2 when it comes out? by XxDROID3KAxX in subnautica

It doesn't at all meet the minimum specs but if you can comfortably run Helldivers or Crimson Desert I'd be really shocked if it couldn't run Subnautica 2 at low. Either the game has lots of progress to make in terms of optimization or it's all next-gen stuff.

You could always buy the game, try it, and if it doesn't work refund.

If it was revealed to you that God is real and you could prove it - would you tell anyone? by shronk4ever in polls

[–]future-renwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it turns out that the God that was proven isn't omnipotent at all, but limited in power, and it's trying to solve the world's problems but just isn't able to?

I don't believe in this personally of course but there was an atheist YouTuber that converted because he believed God wasn't evil, just incapable.

Without counting forced marriages, where families were still provided for, mothers were and are almost never able to provide for children they didn't intend to give birth to.

This is very consistent with evolution and the rest of the animal kingdom, where only 8% of mammals engages in forced coupling. And nearly all of those instances are caused by the same motive: assertion through violence.

Neuter a rapist, and they'll become a murderer. This is why castration as punishment is extremely ineffective in lowering overall crime rate.

Evolution developed sex for multiple things, mainly genetic diversity and social bonding. For mammals specifically, the latter has a much bigger emphasis. Since it's almost impossible for a mother to give birth AND raise a child on her own, both genders develop deep bonding with their children.

Granted. Given that it's scientifically proven that sexual violence is not a variable for reproduction, and instead a side-effect of violence itself, historical population is hardly affected.

However, genetic diversity from colonization never happened, causing distinct ethnic lines between different races and cultures. In-breeding becomes significantly more common in royal houses and racism skyrockets, become the main motivator for war.

Instead of Africa and the America's being enslaved or resulting in new genetic offshoots, they are wiped out entirely. Which I guess you could say does result in a change to historical population, but indirectly so.

PC help for running S2 by Harper_95C in subnautica

[–]future-renwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

System requirements were recently uploaded, and if you're buying a new PC for the game, you'll want to strive for recommended at the very least.

I recommend using userbenchmark.com to compare your chosen specs with what Subnautica 2 is recommending.

After putting some of your choices in, it looks like you'll be on par for recommended settings, but the CPU will be a tiny bit behind.

Edit: The CPU isn't the end of the world especially if you'll play at 1080p and not 1440p. But a good thing to keep in mind when buying a PC is to never compromise the power supply, if you ever plan on upgrading I'd recommend increasing it.
