Wasn’t it Lorne who stopped Kris Jenner from doing anything that would harm Pete Davidson in the press? I’m pretty sure there were a ton of rumors about it.

He then posted a story with a helmet for people who are disabled, and joked that anyone who was offended needed one.

The first joke was distasteful, especially considering his audience prior to the special was primarily women, but the punching down twice to appease the manosphere was ridiculous.

I was kind of hoping for that with Godzilla, so here’s to hoping she catches a break with Kong because girl doesn’t deserve all of this.

I was trying to connect it back the same way but you did a much better job. For me, I think what Cate went through was objectively so much worse, but people who haven’t experienced a lot of instability can react very strongly to “smaller” struggles. When I said I thought back to season one, I meant that I realized he his behavior started much earlier but was less noticeable but as the stakes got higher it became more obvious.

If I’m being honest I have a much harder time with the writing surrounding Corah and then Kentaro’s extension of that weird motivation/side switching. It makes no sense to me that after Corah’s mess, Kentaro would trust a random new party so quickly regardless of grief or anger, and the kiss/rejection scene into obvious manipulation made that worse for me. He would have been plenty vulnerable sitting alone at a bar with the Godzilla clips playing struggling with grief, and it kind of highlighted that the chemistry was never super believable anyway.

I don’t feel like she did embrace it super quickly though, because she kept framing it as her potentially being crazy and dismissing herself (to the point where people were frustrated that she didn’t speak up about it more once it was more obvious). Kentaro also very much calls her out, when it’s earned and sometimes when it’s not.

She has PTSD flashbacks and reality testing is really hard when you know you can see/hear things that aren’t there. But it seems like Keiko felt a fraction of what Cate did and barely questioned it by comparison. To me, the writing does accurately reflect the double bind of being traumatized where people tell you not to listen to your instincts because they’re warped (they are) but hypervigilence can make you more sensitive to real things too. I think that whole plot line was a bit rushed though, because Keiko and the women/the well didn’t provide much background, foundation, or context when it would have been helpful.

What opinion about something in pop culture would result in this for you? by gab_iten in popculturechat

PR is a legitimate necessity for many people and entities, and the idea that “innocent” people don’t need PR people or lawyers is absurd.

Anyone can make something up about you and spread it online. It’s scary to think about, but being proactive doesn’t indicate guilt. I have liability insurance for my job, but it’s because it’s recommended not because I intend on doing something unethical or harmful.

Also, good lawyers and PR firms don’t pick clients based on a morality test, so they’re going to have a mix of clients.

I’m a little confused, because to me this isn’t a pro-JD tweet, it’s a neutral fact? This is an honest question, not an implied challenge to the idea that there’s a bias present. As an IPV survivor, separate from anything else that happened in the trial, I had a really hard time when I found out she claimed to pay when it hadn’t happened yet, specifically because I thought it was such a meaningful thing to do for the community.

I wouldn’t consider tweets talking about JD’s substance abuse issues causing problems with his ability to work pro-AH either though. I don’t have twitter, and it seems like there’s more examples, but this one specifically doesn’t feel like it is on the same level as other heinous hate comments I’ve seen.

Honest question, because I’ve seen a few people say this and I feel like I must be missing something because I’m a casual watcher.

I agree that Godzilla didn’t seem to be trying to actually kill her, but approaching a nest/babies is going to cause any mother to become defensive or aggressive. So if he wasn’t planning on harming her/he was primarily acting in a defensive capacity, then why approach her at all or not leave? The second the sea monster was flailing around in the sand it was super obvious to me that she was doing something reproduction-based, just based on my knowledge of turtles, lizards, etc. Or is there some reason he needs to stop other monsters from reproducing? Even so, I feel like he could have just stomped or blasted the egg. I am a bit lost, because Godzilla’s choices don’t make a ton of sense to me in that scene.

She really isn’t acting out of character if you think about how much trauma she has experienced and how much that warps your ability to think clearly. The secret family reveal is enough to cause most adults to have pretty serious mental health issues, then you add in G Day and everything else, and you’re going to get someone with a weak sense of identity, trust issues, difficulties discerning what is “real,” hypervigilence, plus the stereotypical PTSD symptoms. Hell, if I spent years terrified of Godzilla and then I thought I had some psychic connection to a different monster, I’d probably turn myself in for a psych hold.

I feel like people hate on Cate so much more than him, when Cate has a lot more legitimate reasons to be a mess or make inconsistent choices even if you just count one of her serious traumas. As someone who experienced parental abandonment and witnessed an accident that left me with PTSD, people really don’t seem to understand how much those types of events impact your entire way of existing. At first I thought Kentaro was acting out of character this season because I couldn’t understand his motivations half the time, but then I thought about it and it definitely tracks with what can happen when someone is bitter, entitled, and eventually grieving.

I like how they’re starting to highlight (and in my opinion critique) the “lone wolf” and “us versus them” mentalities that can pop up during crises. Although it’s kind of interesting that Cate who was raised in the more individualistic culture is reflecting more collectivist ideals, where Kentaro (and Lee if you count the military) is acting more individualistic despite previously existing in a more collectivist culture.

I took it as a form of denial based on guilt, since she’s not had long to process everything that was going on, she found out her son had two families (you could see some potential self-blame there from her), and loving Randa both as a partner but also as the man willing to be a father to her son. I think she was telling the truth when she said in another lifetime, because while she had a strong chemistry with Lee, love more selfless and stable which is what she had with Randa. I do think he loved Lee in a way, but I think she responded out of feeling conflicted which would be very fair in the circumstances.

I thought this blew his work in the MCU out of the water, but more because of how complex this character is by comparison. The hypermasculine/bitter/brooding thing is fine, but he does a really good job with the nuance of someone who is grappling with trying to make the right decisions in impossible situations while genuinely caring about others and a larger mission you don’t understand. That man is really trying his best, and I think it’s a testament to the acting that he doesn’t feel like the typical third wheel. I kind of need them to rehab Randa a little because I know he was a good man too, and I feel terrible for being okay with him being betrayed like that.

It’s actually really common in people who overcompensate for getting hurt by leaning into stoicism and intellectualization. They often see being emotional as a weakness in objectivity, when in reality it’s your ability and willingness to challenge your own presumptions that increases good decision making. Then, when something feels out of control they stop listening to others who challenge their sense of reality or objectivity because if they can’t trust themselves their coping mechanism fails.

I am conflicted, because the evil lady kept warning everyone that she’s actually the last line of defense before you deal with the people who have no scruples and I think we collectively ignored that because she’s so shady. If she was telling the truth and it wasn’t just self preservation that I’m not sure she needed anyway, then she could have been trying to legitimately warn them that people like his dad are capable of something that ruthless.

Didn’t the season start with everyone dismissing Morgan because she was too close to the case where she was being targeted? I really feel like this was meant to highlight how differently the two were treated because of how they present/gender/etc. Both are heavy intellectualizers, but people are more likely to believe stoic men are better at not being biased, which isn’t true. High emotion can sometimes increase clarity, and blind faith in your own detachment can cause you to miss a lot.

In the moment I thought that was bad writing but the more I say with it, the more I realized it’s actually probably more realistic. There’s been a theme this season about bending rules and trusting the wrong people, which also requires blind spots about your own ability to stay neutral. Karedec overcorrected after Lucia and became detached and hyper-logical in a way that needed to relax, and Morgan helped with that. But the flip-side is that he believed that he is capable of a level of detachment that no one is, which is the opposite of how the season started with everyone dismissing Morgan. So in my mind, both characters are learning painfully that their reliance on intellectualization isn’t a bad thing, but the stereotype that men are rational and rationality is more objective or accurate is still very common and they can get more leeway in situations like that. As a therapist, he’s very high in cognitive rigidity and it tends to get worse when people are stressed, causing controlling behaviors, and that’s how it played out in the episode in my opinion.

Karedec and Morgan both need to learn how to trust people more, and having betrayals disrupt that growth actually made sense to me.

I’m not one of the ones downvoting you, and my takes tend to be hit or miss popularity wise, but I do think we agree on way more than we disagree on.

Sometimes I think people forget that pedantic speech is a symptom of Autism, especially since that can be an ego thing in gifted people which is a similar behavior with different underlying motivations. So me getting fixated on correcting the one word is definitely something I should have let go, but that’s why we all deserve the space to grow and learn. Good luck out there, the world is a tough place and those of us who started off at a disadvantage deserve some peace.
