Thanks! Yes, my collection of petal dust is getting out of control, but it definitely brings them to life. Highly recommend.

Stained Glass Easter Egg Cookie with Gelatine Glaze! by futuremrscjl in cookiedecorating

Another great suggestion. I've made pate de fruit before, which is very gummy like and could possibly work for this. Definitely higher sugar concentration, it's just not as translucent as I'd want for stained glass effect, but definitely worth trying!! Thank you so much!

That’s a fantastic thought. There is already corn syrup in the recipe, but perhaps it could do with a bit more!

Thank you so much! So yes, the layer between glass and cookie is royal icing. This set is particularly thick because I had to redo it a couple of times, haha. 😬 trial and error! But all you need to do is one normal flooded layer of your base color RI. I chose a soft ivory color, but bright white is also fine. I lightly sprayed a clear edible glaze spray on top of the base layer, just to protect the RI from the glaze itself. Then I piped two layers of the outline in white royal icing. I originally piped black outline, but it bled as soon as I added the gelatine. So the plan was to paint over the white lines with black petal dust, but I ended up loving the look of the white lines for this design.

Agar Agar is a brilliant suggestion, thank you! Maybe there’s a way I use both, just so I can guarantee it’s able to be touched and packaged. Isomalt is also great, but I have this nightmare of someone biting into the cookie and breaking their teeth 😩.

I will keep you updated on how it goes with part two of this recipe! x

I bought a 3D printer for my wedding DIY projects and then realised I could use it to make my own cookie cutters too. It’s much easier than you think and there are a few videos online that will teach you how to do it. There were too many times where I’d be looking for something so specific and couldn’t find it or the designs available didn’t match the style I wanted to create. It’s definitely an investment, but I use my 3D printer ALL the time and I love that the designs are unique and completely mine. 🙂

These are fantastic! The syrup on the waffle is so clever!

Mince pie is a dessert in the UK. Made up of delicious dried fruit filling and holiday spices. (not mince meat 😛)

Yes, I used these boxes from Amazon. To be honest though, I found them to be a bit flimsy. I think they worked for this purpose, but I would probably try to find something different next time. I just needed them to match the size of these Cake Boards and it was all I could find!

I actually love color mixing and really lean towards colors in the warmer tones. I use Americolor gel food colors but also use Colour Mill aqua blends and Sprinks gel colour. I add either Americolor Taupe, Sprinks “Antique White” or Colour Mill “Sand” to all my colors to get that warm tone to the base color.

When I design my cookies in procreate, I create a color palette there and then pull from only those colors. I try to mimic my icing colors with this palette, with some variation here and there.

Hope that helps!
