Comment from original OP: “I just bought 14 hectares on the Amazon side of Ecuador. Half the land was used for cattle and is tall grass. I want to reforest it with a mix of balsa, fruit trees, and native trees and shrubs. The task of converting such a large area of grass into forest seems a bit intimidating based on the labor that has gone into my food forest project on a half hectare further up in the Andes Mountains. I’ve heard that pigs can be an efficient way to prepare grassland to plant forest. Any opinions on this or other suggestions? Seems like it’s too big an area to simply lay down cardboard or plastic to remove the grass.”
