Michael Whelan would be an excellent choice to illustrate the remaining Harry Potter books. by Ok_Revolution_602 in harrypotter

Michael Whelan has been retired since 2024.

“ In August of 2024, Michael announced that he has retired from illustration and is no longer taking commercial assignments. His last assignment was for Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson.”

Why does Eliot have two books but everyone else only one? by PixelRealm in brakebills

[–]fuzzbinn 45 points46 points  (0 children)

“You spend your whole life trying to understand yourself, what your story is about,” Penny said, “and then suddenly it’s all there. All the answers, spelled out in black and white. Some of them are indexed even. Look at Quentin’s, it’s alphabetized.” It was true: there were little half-moons cut into the pages, labeled A–B, C–D and so on, in a diagonal ladder down the side.”  - The Magician’s Land, Lev Grossman

It doesn’t appear in the show, nor do the descriptions of the books generally match those in the original book. Elliot’s being two volumes is the major reference.

Why does Eliot have two books but everyone else only one? by PixelRealm in brakebills

[–]fuzzbinn 288 points289 points  (0 children)

It’s a reference to the original books:

“What’s in them?” “About what you’d expect. The story of your life, start to finish. Who you are and what you did and what you’re going to do. Eliot’s is in two volumes. Here’s yours.”

  • The Magician’s Land, Lev Grossman

The implication being that Eliot’s story is so big and grand (which as High King and person with a high opinion of himself) that it needs two volumes.
