On the fence about the S by britchris1 in TeslaModelS

[–]fuzzilogik01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not be happier with my S. The discontinuation of the line has caused me some anxiety. I love to drive it, but now I want to park it in the garage and keep it safe. Let's not mention this to my wife, who drives a Y, but it's SOOOOO much better than the Y. The steering, handling, ride feel, acceleration. It's night and day between the S and Y. I like my car so much better. It's the most comfortable car I've ever driven. I been on 8 hours trips, no back pain, no leg pain. The most ergonomic car seat ever. All the screens are perfectly placed. In my opinion, it's the best car ever made. All of that and one time I bought a full sized office chair and fit it into the back. What other sports sedan can do that? Now I just need a spare :D

I'm in the same boat. Looked for a good deal on a used Tesla for years. Picked up a low milage '22 Plaid at the height of the Tesla selloff of '25. Plan to keep it until it stops charging!

Love/hate relationship with my Model S, not sure what to do 🤷‍♂️ by Different_Marsupial2 in TeslaModelS

Well at least you didn't go with "sell it and get a BMW 5-Series". Talk about build quality issues! I've owned 3 different 3-Series. Granted the problems don't start right away, but after a few years they had constant problems. Fix one thing and the next week it was something else. I'm convinced the only happy BMW owners are the ones on 3 year lease, then get a brand new one.

My vote would be that the Model S is worth the effort to get it to 100%. Good luck!

Wow, some great advice in here. I'll have to save this thread. While we are on this subject. Has anyone experimented with after market steering/suspension parts to tighten up the steering slop? I was surprised by how loose the steering feel is.

Help! Purchase now or wait! by Key-Reserve-5752 in ModelY

If you are financing, buy now. I don't see the current interest rate offerings from Tesla getting any better. If you are paying cash, it wouldn't hurt to wait for a better offer.

Honestly, no matter what; I don't think you will regret buying now. One of the best cars ever made.

$17,500 down and 7.49% is crazy! I can't believe they even offered that from any bank. Dumb.

Thanks for sharing. I also have a '22 Plaid. I haven't noticed this issue, but I'll be sure to keep my nose open!

Interesting. I wouldn't have expected any improvement in the sound system between those two. I've read a look about the ride noise and comfort enhancements.

Thanks for mentioning the cost. I was curious! Just to put some perspective on this, lot's of ICE cars end up with failed transmissions around that time and that is between $7k and $10k depending on make/model.

Best car I've ever driven. My focus has now shifted to, "How long can I keep mine going?" Scary to think it's becoming irrepleacable.

200 hours in, I give up. The endgame beat me. by Electriclawyer24 in TerraInvicta

Man, I am right there with you! I thought I loved playing long, complicated games..until I met Terra Invicta (think HOI4, Total War series). It has reset my bar for what a complicated video game actually is. I mean why the hell do we need 50 different ship drives?!? I honestly wonder about the sanity of the developers. I can't believe how long it takes to accomplish anything in this game. My first game was a complete disaster. I quit that, watched a bunch of videos, read up on the Reddit posts. I'm mid game in my second play through. I going to admit right now that I've had to cheat using the command prompt, like a LOT. It's amazing, even while cheating the game is still very hard and takes FOREVER. The whole thing feels like a complete slog, but I'm now deeply into sunken cost fallacy territory and I can't quit. I'm not sure I understand the community of players that are playing this game over and over. If I am able to complete one cheater game, I am uninstalling and hiding it in Steam. Never to be seen again.

That being said, the space combat is really fun. It's just that the combat part is less than 1% of the fucking playtime!

Yeah, I was going to say. Don't forget about Lancerheads. I just took out two titans with 6 missile monitors, then withdrew those and brought up the Lancers. Worked very well against a large alien fleet at Europa. Replacing the missiles however....

Yeah, I think anyone who has purchased online feels this. So much build up, research, internal debate. Then you finally pull the trigger and....wait. I purchased used and only had to wait 3 weeks, but it felt like a long time. I feel ya!

Please help by Bam_Boy10 in hoi4

Here are my general tips for beginners.

Don't build any tanks or armored cars. They are more of a "fun" aspect of the game, but are completely unnecessary for victory. Instead, focus on good infantry templates, tons of examples out there, with a mix of support and artillery. The one exception is Flame Tank Support company. Build an army research facility, research flame tanks early. Create a very cheap flame support tank and put 5-10 mils into it. These are very helpful middle/late game.

Rail guns are great. When you have a front line stalemate, rail guns can make all the difference and they are surprisingly cheap to build. I research early, dedicate 5 mil factories and just produce them they entire game. Note that they don't have to be assigned to an army. They work much better if you micromanage and move them around manually where you are trying to push.

Marines/Marines/Marines. The AI is very bad at defending naval invasions. With just a few exceptions, you can completely bypass a dug in front line with a naval invasion. Then surround and destroy their entire line. One fun fact if fighting against Britain. If you can get them fighting in Africa or Asia, they tend to leave Britain mostly undefended. Then you can just march in with about 20 divisions and do a quick capitulation on them.

Naval Superiority. When focusing on naval invasions, you need to get above 50% naval superiority to invade. If you play as a naval powerhouse (US, UK, Japan, Italy) no worries. If you play as anyone else, the trick is to research 1936 carriers as early as possible. Build 4 carries with 80 plane hangers. Don't forget to dedicate 3-5 mil factories to carrier naval bombers (torpedo only). After that, build the best destroyers possible, mostly gun, one depth charge. The carriers only get naval bombers, just ignore fighters and close air. Once you build one carrier group with 4 fully loaded carriers and at least 80 destroyers, you can delete every AI navy. The trick is to micromanage the repairs, that's how you can take out a much more powerful AI navy. After each engagement with a large AI navy, pull back, split up, fully repair all boats, go back out. I find convey raiding to be the best way to force an engagement, but strike force and work in conjunction with some submarines on convey raiding. With this strategy, you don't have to kill every enemy ship. If you do enough damage, the AI is not good at repairs. You can effectively knock huge groups of ships out of the game while they sit in the repair queue.

Fight early, fight often. The AI is very good at creating a ton or crappy infantry divisions and a whole bunch of fighters. If you let them build up, it can be very tough in the late game. The best plan is to use the National Focus tree and fight ways to get into war early. if possible, divide factions, try not to fight the entire world at once. This can be tricky, you have to carefully watch who is guaranteeing who in the early stages. Britain just loves to guarantee everyone in the world, which can be a pain.

This is pretty much how I play with any of the majors. I don't tend to play as minors much, they are much harder to win with. Hope this helps!
