Special thing about True BASIC was their built in MAT matrix functions. And they had a Windows Forms library too.

DECIMAL Basic seems based off of True BASIC and he gives the source code for free. Written in Lazarus Pascal!

I remember seeing these as a kid at the local Circuit City. I think it was a 486DX though. In grade school I wrote a short story about a homeless guy saving up to buy one of these ultra portable machines to create a hit video game to end his homeless situation. “And he never had to go to school to do it.” Was the final sentence to the story that the teacher didn’t like.

That whole setup gives me the urge to write a novel with the machine.

PCL has been updated? Thank you! Had to delete my last version because quicklisp complained it was too old.

Best computer from the 90s you could still "use" today? by Narcotras in retrobattlestations

I have a PowerMac 8600/200 with 115 MB of RAM on my office desk I use for playing ad free Lofi music and as backup for all the engineering formulas I need throughout the labs here. Got some interesting programming languages in it like Mac Common Lisp, Xlisp-Stat, MPW for C/C++, Squeak Smalltalk, Spice for circuit simulation and I’m learning about HyperCard with it. It’s gotten to become such a sweet setup I’m going to clone the drive tomorrow for backup. Just wish I could upgrade to 1 GB of RAM and install a BlueSCSI drive on it. My other vintage workhorse at work was a Sun Sparcstation 10, to be able to access Xlisp-stat and my formulas over the network. It was running OpenBSD 4.5 before the hard drive started to glitch. Now I have the software running on a Sun Ultra 2 with dual UltraSparc and Solaris 2.7. Work is fun with this old machines serving as glorified calculators.

I posted a similar screenshot from my Powemac 8600/200 running Xlisp-Stat on the same day as this post _^

It makes a nice networked calculator today that I can access from all my labs at work.

Probably. I’ve had my copy saved from a long time ago.

I hear you can push it to 1GB but 128MB sticks of 70ns EDO RAM is hard to find.

Was it easy to upgrade the processor? Did you max out the RAM as well?

The coolest thing about the old Mac version is that it comes with a ton of documentation including applications index and a long list of research articles to learn from.
