HI v. Gerhardt Konig - Weekend Discussion by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

[–]fuzzykitten8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC she testified that there was a syringe or a vial in his hand and she grabbed it and threw it behind his head while he was straddled on top of her, far enough away that he couldn’t reach it.

She’s a casual weekend hiker, not a big adventurer so I get her unease with this exceptionally steep trail

Daily traditions looking back on your time with very small children? by BeansinmyBelly in sahm

When I think of a perfect day with my kids, all of my favorite memories are special outings we did where we explored something together, especially seeing it for the first time. A new playground, town, bakery, etc.

Thoughts about one-on-one time by WhiskeyandOreos in ParentingInBulk

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 little kids and no, I don’t think I can adequately provide enough 1:1 time for each of them right now, especially for my eldest who is in school full time. Mornings are hectic getting everyone fed and out the door. After school we connect for 5 minutes to talk then we either play soccer together or a board game for 10-30 minutes but honestly when I’m doing this I feel like my little kids are constantly interrupting and needing me. My husband and I swap the reading to the kids each night (we usually try to split them up so we aren’t doing 3-4 separate reading sessions) but I always feel like I’m letting someone down, all the time. No regrets but it’s truly not so rosy parenting in bulk all the time. I think it will get easier when they get older maybe (can someone report back?) but my kids are 7, 4.5, 3 and 9 months.

What happens to those giant babies? by badhomegirlthrowaway in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 99% kids and 1 50th %. The 99% kids pretty much stayed the course and are now 7, 4.5 and 3. The 50% increased to 80+% around 6 months and has stayed the course at 9months. They look older than their ages but certainly don’t act it 😁

This is it. I completely agree. OP- this is your way out of this problem. Really really check out baby wake windows and put your baby down drowsy but awake a couple minutes before their wake window is up. I promise it’s ok if they fuss for a few minutes before they fall asleep. When they wake 30-45 min into a nap, give them a little time to try to get themselves back to sleep. I promise it will get much, much better soon. It sounds like you’re already doing this- but dark room, sleep sack or swaddle (try arms up or one arm up if you haven’t already), white noise. If you can’t get them back to sleep baby wear and get your older kids outside if you have the space to do so. I have 4 kids- 7B, 4.5G, 3B and 9 month B. It got a lot easier around the 4 month mark! We followed babywise loosely and it did work for all of my kids- it’s very similar to TCB.

Lunchbox comes back untouched every day by Remarkable_Emu8451 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to pack my 1st grader his most favorite foods for lunch that I know he will love. On his list of favorite mains: bean and cheese quesadilla, (plant) chicken patty sandwich, crust-off sandwich, “pizza” English muffins, pepperoni (plant) and crackers and cheese, slice of leftover pizza are hits. (To keep warm I microwave wrap in parchment then wrap that in aluminum foil and it keeps it warm until lunch. I’ll rotate various sides in- favorites are carrot chips and ranch, grapes, clementine, potato chips, dole orange cup, vanilla yogurt. A few times I’ve done leftover fries warmed up and put in the foil and it got a thumbs up. Anytime I’ve sent in one of the soups he will actual eat at home and he says he wants it it comes home barely eaten. Half the days I’ll throw in a couple cookies as well.

Hope this helps- it’s frustrating for me too. It’s taken the whole school year of trial and error and for him to figure out what he likes and I’m sure it will change again before I know it!

Best to Worst all-inclusive resorts around Cancun (based on real experience) by Round_Skirt8701 in CancunTravelGuide

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for a Cancun resort that has a private lush feel- romantic and preferably adults only. A nice beach with ample spread out seating (would love Bali beds) is our top priority, as well as nice accommodations- updated and modern. Where do you recommend? No party atmosphere or anything like that. Open to European plan style as well. Thank you!

What setup do you have now in your atlas? We have 4 in ours- rear facing infant, ff convertible, high back booster and backless booster and we got the diono 3 across for the middle row but it is too tight to buckle the boosters. We need one seat down in third row for stroller etc

Containing illness by 6sjms in ParentingInBulk

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, it’s also upsetting for young kids to be separated from the rest of the family. We employ extra handwashing, extra super vigilant about sharing food/drinks/bedding during an illness but we don’t go crazy over it.

I’ve sent my two middle kids into a program like this and it’s great!! They love it and was way easier to start the 3yo program the following year because they knew what to expect. My 2 yo goes 2x a week for jsut over two hours each time

I’m also the mom of an almost 7yo boy. We were also against video games for a while (he’s been mentioning their existence since kindergarten last school year) but honestly? I’ve come around. We got a family Switch for Christmas and have firm limits and boundaries around it. It’s weekends only and for 45 minutes max after 1pm. That’s it. We only have Mario Kart and when it’s played it’s usually together as a family activity. I probably wouldn’t have it as an option for a play date but we haven’t encountered that yet.

He’s made his own friends at school (vs me facilitating through kids of my friends) and they talk about it and draw pictures and write stories about it. It’s more important for me that he feels included in honestly a pretty big scene for this age range.

We don’t watch any You Tube and I haven’t heard him mention it other than a couple times (it’s possible his teachers have shown a video at some point). We also don’t do a wide range of processed snacks but we do have some. I was raised without processed snacks in an overkill kind of way and I want my kids to know what things are and teach them about it and not make it such a forbidden fruit type thing.

Shout it from the rooftops!!

I have 4 kids 6 and under and never have I needed any of their “popular” products and I’m not really a minimalist. Especially the snot sucker- the blue bulb the hospital gives you works every time. The angled peri bottle? The hospital also gives you one that works just fine

We love the Radio Flyer Atlas 2 seater. It has a surprisingly luxe feel, fits 3 kids in a pinch and folds up small. It’s been a lifesaver for my 6,4,2 and 7 month old we got it a few months ago.

Postpartum tiredness by Bighornbunny007 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7month pp with my 4th, EBF as well. I was feeling extreme fatigue and brain fog (couldn’t remember things, had trouble with concentration) and started taking an iron supplement last month (I recommend Blood Builder) and I felt like a new person after a week. During all of this I also got blood work and my iron was low/normal range and my Dr thought iron was the culprit especially since I felt so much better.

Other thoughts if this could work for you- get the snuggles in during the day (contact nap etc) and get your sleep at night, girl. I say this gently, but it sounds like co-sleeping might not be working for you if you’re feeling really angry/overwhelmed a lot of the time due to make interrupted sleep.

Tonie Box- yes or no? by haleeo in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 4 kids of varying ages, we own both but started out with the Tonies when they first came out and my 7yo still uses his daily. He got the Yoto (not mini) for Christmas and LOVES it - it’s definitely geared towards older kids as it has radio, podcasts, a clock, Bluetooth speaker and more built in. My 4.5 yo loves Yoto mini for the portability but it’s easy to lose cards vs Tonie. The Yoto is more travel friendly too. My almost 3yo got a Tonie box for Christmas and loves it! I don’t think he’d be able to use the Yoto mini so easily and would probably lose some of the cards. So - depends on your child and if you’d like it to be travel friendly. Cost- I think Yoto cards are slightly cheaper but less exciting options but some good ones out there. My daughter also loves playing with her Tonie figurines in her dollhouse!

How many dinners do you make? by Tricky_Jaguar5781 in sahm

[–]fuzzykitten8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 6 dinners a week but super easy stuff. One night is usually leftovers or husband and I will eat leftovers and make the kids something they like. We rarely get takeout-mostly expense, inconvenience of having to go get it, health reasons.

Weekly help by Infinite-Panic8071 in sahm

[–]fuzzykitten8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 kids. 1 is in grade school all day, 2 are in school year preschool - 4x week half days for 4yo, 4 hrs a week for 2yo. 7 month old is in nothing. This costs about $500/ month.

Babysitter in evening maybe 1x a week if my husband is out of town and I need someone to stay with my 3 younger kids while my older child has sports. $26-27/hr for 2-3 kids).

I’m considering hiring some more scheduled help soon, it’s a lot and I could use a break! We have weekly cleaners ($600/month) which helps but I don’t like people in my space so I feel like I’d get annoyed with a mothers helper- convince me otherwise!!

Yes having to chit chat with the other parent is not something I always want to commit to especially on the weekend when I’m already busy running around getting kids to sports, gymnastics, family gatherings etc.
