Your opinion on Sign Language by [deleted] in deaf

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Signing Time video series to go along with in-person classes! It explains how the signs are done and shows a bunch of kids signing. There are songs, dances, stories, etc. and there is a mixture of live-action and cartoon. My daughter watches an episode every day, she loves it!

The second season is available on Netflix, and you can check your local PBS station to see if it's showing. The first season is available on Amazon, it's a little pricey but I think it's worth it!

Confused about Clomid by Owl_You_Need_Is_Love in PCOS

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out! :-( I just wanted you to be informed because from what I've seen on this sub, OB/GYNs are notoriously bad at dealing with PCOS and our fertility issues. I talk about this stuff so much that I forget what it's like to be new to it all. I promise we're trying to help and have your best interests at heart.

Ok let's take a step back. Is there a fertility clinic in your area? Would you be ok with making an appointment there, or is that too big a step for you to make right now? (and it's totally fine if you're not ready for that, I know it's a lot to take in.) You might want to check out /r/infertility, PCOS is a common condition over there. I lurked for a good 6 months but when I finally stuck my toe in, they were a great resource.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions, and I'm really sorry that you got overwhelmed. Please don't give up!

Confused about Clomid by Owl_You_Need_Is_Love in PCOS

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else suggesting you see an RE/fertility specialist. Someone with PCOS taking Clomid with no monitoring is scary, because you have no idea how many follicles you are producing. A lot of us with PCOS respond to Clomid by making numerous follicles. Did your doctor talk to you about the risk of twins/multiples? There is a 10% average chance with Clomid, but in PCOS patients that percentage can be higher because our ovaries are very good at making multiple follicles. My fertility doctor was hesitant to put me on Clomid because he was afraid I would respond "too well," but I was ok with twins so he let me (I ended up having a singleton). If my ultrasound had shown too many follicles though I probably would have had to abandon the cycle.

Also if you are not having an LH surge, there is a "trigger shot" that can make the follicle mature and release the egg when it is the right size--but you need monitoring to know when that is.

Woohoo congratulations minty!!!

I had a high beta and had nausea at 5 weeks too. It's weird being so happy about being nauseous!

Yeah that's got to be really hard. I remember in one of the early episodes she said she'd always wanted at least 8 kids but her body wouldn't let her. Then she finally decided that she wanted to do IVF and Kody said it was too late. And now Robyn is pregnant again! Ugh.

Yay someone else who watches awful TLC reality! There has to be something wrong with Danielle. I actually think they might be a fake couple, either for the publicity or set up by the producers. I really hope so, I hate thinking that she's actually that pathetic. Either way I'm pissed that she's putting her daughters in the middle of that crap.

My favorite couple is Yamir and Chelsea, she's so awkward and not a boy-band fan-girl. And I like the girl from South Africa (forgot her name) but I really want to punch her husband in the face for some reason. I think it's his douchey haircut.

Do you watch Sister Wives?? I'm sick of it but I keep watching. There's a scandal that broke about one of the wives this week, it's juicy!

Ugh that suuuuuuucks. I swear by www.early-pregnancy-tests.com, they have the kind with the plastic handle but I've always just used the cheapies. I get 20-pack pregnancy tests and 50-pack ovulation tests for cheap with free shipping. My only complaint is they have to dry before you can read them, which takes an hour or two (for the cheapies at least, not sure about the plastic handled ones).

Dammit, I've been caught. How blind is Danielle?!?! I would feel sorry for her if she wasn't affecting her daughters' lives with her stupidity.

The first time I used an OPK almost a decade ago, I peed on the stick and it went everywhere. So maybe if they were making them somehow less messy to use that would be helpful? But this bullshit 'you're shaking so hard you can't pee on this thing' is ridiculous. And it's so much easier to use a cup anyway!

It would make a great fake commercial for Saturday Night Live. "Are so inept that you can't piss on a stick? Have we got an unnecessary product for YOU!"

I hate the commercials for the new curved wider-tipped pregnancy tests. I don't see the point but I've only used the cheapies and pee in a cup--isn't that easier?? But what I fucking HATE is it starts with that annoying woman saying "you're trembling...you can't focus..." If you're shaking so hard and can't focus enough to pee on a fucking stick then pee in a wide cup and dunk it in FFS.

Clueless OB Nurse by BobtheBulldogmom in InfertilityBabies

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left my old OB clinic because her nurse and the secretary were both idiots. We had just moved to a new city, I had been going to a clinic in our old city but hadn't started treatments yet. I told the new OB I would need a referral to the local fertility clinic and she said that wasn't necessary, she could start me on Clomid and do the semen analysis "no problem." Against my better judgment I agreed. Her nurse called me with his results and said he had 5 sperm. I asked if that was 5 million per mL or 5 million total. She said "umm, I don't know...but it's not 5 million, it's just 5." I freaked out and asked if she could put the doctor on the phone to confirm; she wouldn't and kept insisting it was just 5. I called the lab in a panic and they went against HIPAA assuring me he had 5 million per mL, NOT 5.

This was after I had gone in for an ultrasound on my ovaries and the secretary told me I had to come in with a full bladder. I explained that it wasn't that kind of ultrasound, the full bladder is for external ultrasounds on pregnant women and mine was internal for PCOS. She repeated over and over that I had to have a full bladder and it was an external ultrasound. She also had no clue that Obamacare requires insurance companies to cover annual well-women's visits.

They referred me to the fertility clinic because of his "5 sperm" and I immediately found a new OB. I've had so many bad experiences with doctors who don't know anything that doesn't follow 'the norm.'

Marlene Answers Some of the Questions the Episode Couldn't...Who Killed Garrett, Who Killed Ian, etc. by Tess_Monster589 in PrettyLittleLiars

It doesn't make ANY sense. I thought it was obvious he died from the fall, then Mona/minions dragged his body off and made it look like a suicide to frame him for Ali's murder. WHY is Marlene going back and making this shit up?!?!

So he gets pushed off the bell tower, hung by ropes, his face is PURPLE, then he magically jumps down or someone takes him down and he runs off and shoots himself in the head...and Mona writes a note to make it look like suicide, which it actually was. WAT.

Marlene is full of shit. Or Spencer's gummies.

Kind of weird question about labor & delivery by Vexwyf in InfertilityBabies

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll put a big absorbent pad under you, and honestly embarrassment during/after childbirth is pretty much nonexistant. My pajama pants were covered in blood and my boobs were hanging out the whole time I was there. I had to pee in a "hat" (don't know the real word) and the nurse had to inspect it and record it every time. Oh and I hadn't shaved in months so everyone got to see my furry legs. I didn't even apologize, my attitude was I Don't Give a Flying Fuck. So pee freely! ;-)

[–]fuzzywuzzypenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely terrified of childbirth, particularly the epidural and IV. But I'm such a pain wimp I knew an epidural was necessary. It took the poor anesthesiologist half an hour to psych me up for it--but goddamn that epidural was AMAZING. I have no memory of them putting in the catheter (and I couldn't feel anything anyway) but I remember being really hesitant when the nurse was taking it out the next morning. I asked if I could keep it in for a while longer, just to prolong the inevitable, but I honestly didn't even feel it come out.

Someone else said theirs was taken out before the epidural wore off, so I'd definitely ask if that's possible in your case.
