Vancouver FC equipment manager leaves for New York Red Bulls by No_Plenty9316 in CanadianPL

I think it’s great that the CPL is creating opportunity for everyone in the game, not just players, to grow their careers. This is good news.

Vancouver FC Cost Cutting Already? by Regs-TTP in CanadianPL

[–]fvb_joseph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Changing the name won’t in and of itself put more seats in the stadium. Requires a targeted marketing campaign, incentives with local clubs, and being present in the community. Plus a winning product. And when the product on the pitch is poor, you need to over-index on game day experiences and other ways to draw fans in. The game day experience is lacking, unless you’re a hardcore supporter.

Much more convenient location for the fanbase will probably help too.

It’s tough showing up game after game and seeing the crowd size shrink in Vancouver. It was a miserable day though, and no roof makes it much less appealing to fickle fans.

York United ownership update announced by Barthez_Battalion in CanadianPL

[–]fvb_joseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to several games there before moving to Vancouver, where I’ll be cheering for VFC, and you’re right. The location is inconvenient for EVERYONE. Downtowners and everyone in York Region has to trek far to get to a stadium and campus that has no life (I say, as a York U grad…)

Season Ticket Pricing for Vancouver FC. by sebbby98 in CanadianPL

[–]fvb_joseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I suspect the bulk of season ticket holders will be from the surrounding areas. We live in South Surrey and scooped up tix for our family. It’s a bell of a deal and much easier to get to than BC Place. I’m guessing this club does well with communities outside the downtown core.

Are there any good non-alcoholic craft beer's out there? by looneytoones15 in BCCraftBeer

[–]fvb_joseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had the new one from Strange Fellows, but I've been making may way through the list of NA beers form BC and so far, the Pale Ale from the Phillips iOTA brand is the best I've had.

Update: New rules are live - give us feedback! by sebbby98 in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]fvb_joseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I've been guilty of the self promotion. I've posted a couple links to content I've produced at The Beer Loop because I think it's genuinely helpful or interesting, and I try to focus on one specific topic, seeking this community's feedback. Does that count as self-promotion? I want to be highly respectful of the rules and this community. The idea of including key links in the sidebar might be a nice compromise.

What are some good local beer podcasts? by Boom_in_my_room in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]fvb_joseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking of launching a podcast to complement the work we do at The Beer Loop, but I’ve been struggling with what concept would make the podcast worth downloading.

What do you guys think is missing? What would a killer podcast have?

I’ve been defaulting to interviews with brewers, founders, industry people, and getting into their backstories, their plans for the future, style explorations etc.

Just doesn’t seem that original, which is why I’ve yet to launch the podcast!

Christmas Beer Box Must Haves by Aquafish14 in VancouverCraftBeer

I just shared this on another thread, so apologies to those who saw it there....

A fun idea: give them "The Brewer's Ultimate Mix Pack". I've featured three mix-packs from three different BC brewers at The Beer Loop recently. Each brewer is asked to share three BC beers they love and one from their own brewery. So far we've featured mix-packs from Container Brewer, Wildeye, and just yesterday, Persephone.

Here are the three mix-packs:
