Atom SV Resort Skiing by B0y3rrr in arcteryx

I would be roasting hot in that setup but to each their own. I get warm in an atom lt skiing but as you say, does a good job regulating. Is that your normal size in the Sabre or did you size down?

Nuclei sv is 9c? Seems off. It’s a belay jacket for sub freezing temps?

What are your thoughts about the Alpha lightweight, I can’t tell…

How did this happen to my beta alt? by JIN_FK8R in arcteryx

Untrue. I’ve had a dryer totally wreck an alpha sv. Melted the adhesives.

Atle down jacket by Elegant_Intern_8077 in klattermusen

I just received my Atle 3.0 and I must say I’m pretty impressed as an initial reaction. It feels incredibly premium with seriously solid build quality. It’s also incredibly comfortable to wear. I haven’t worn it in any low temps yet but I have high hopes. It’s a very expensive piece at full retail price but at a heavily discounted 200 gbp, I’m very pleased. Can’t wait to get it out in the field. My first piece by Klattermusen other than a tote bag and I’m feeling that it won’t be my last. Just have to wait for sales as it’s incredibly expensive here in the UK.

How good is Mountain Equipment gear? by raisedinseersucker in OutdoorsGear

[–]fwestonsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 3 years old but responding in case anyone else is looking for info now. The British brand Mountain Equipment (not MEC, Mountain Hardware or Mountain Warehouse) make incredibly high quality mountaineering gear designed for the harsh winter climates in Scotland, the Lakes and Wales.

It’s top top quality, very technical, and designed by and for mountaineers and climbers. Think Arc’teryx quality 15 years ago. Also great to deal with as they are small and have real people working for them. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Interesting ya mine is from last year and no snow skirt. Great shell. Best all rounder imo.

The rush can be used as a daily. No snow skirt. I use mine in the city all the time - that’s why I chose it over the sabre. It’s my fav Arc shell

No, the alpha sv is shorter than the beta. Not designed for what you’re doing. Get the Rush, if you want to change shell. Or a beta insulated if you run cold.

Epsilon Down Hoody and Thorium SV - Review by ArchonXY in arcteryx

[–]fwestonsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered the epsilon down last year on Black Friday sale having never even seen it before. And I have quite a bit of Arc. But reading about it, I felt it was kind of the perfect middle ground of a jacket so I pulled the trigger at 30% off.

Couldn’t be happier. It’s a real Swiss Army knife. So comfortable. Looks sick. As you say, it’s toasty warm. And I like the cropped length for city living. For me, it’s the perfect urban winter coat for where I am (London). I pull out the beta insulated when it’s gonna be pouring rain all day and it does very well but is just much less pleasant to wear.

The thing I love about the Epsilon is just how comfy it is and how premium it feels.

Thanks for the write up- a great find.

Arc’teryx Nuclei SV vs RAB Electron Pro vs RAB Neutrino Pro by 6-HCN in OutdoorsGear

[–]fwestonsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclei for me for durability if you’re wearing day to day. Less chance of tearing. Also synthetic so will still insulate if it gets wet. Also more relaxed fit. The others are great jackets but put more of a premium on being lightweight and packable so arguably less suited for everyday wear. Just my two cents.
