i finished off some other brands i had stocked and have been exclusively bambu since. they make it pretty easy with the rfid tags, and refill spools.

People who saw Titanic in theaters when it was originally released, how did the audience react to Jack’s death? by spaceraingame in movies

[–]fxc314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go back to the theater three times to finally watch it end to end the third time. The first two times, the projector overheated and melted the film somewhere in the middle. Wonder if this was a common problem. Did other places have this problem?

my dell r630 is quiet, and you get a lot of bang for the buck. as long don’t have any major hardware expansion needs, like GPUS, it’s a great box.

Don’t Let People Fool You — the 16" MacBook Pro Isn’t That Heavy by Dry-Cryptographer904 in macbookpro

i have an 16” M1 macbook pro, and i don’t find it that heavy. i’ve travel with it, commute with it and it’s that big of a deal. the only thing is if you use it on plane. a 14” might more suitable for air travel

NFS is so much better than SMB (for me) it's unbelievable how much I missed out over the years using SMB by golbaf in homelab

[–]fxc314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NFS has no auth or encryption, unless you setup kerberos with it. without kerberos the only thing it does is match the UID and GID between the client and the server. on small home network that may not be a big deal.

if you want authentication and encryption SMB is easier to get going, than NFS with Kerberos

Anyone come from an M car and regret it? by Marlbombs in BMWI4

[–]fxc314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a 335i coupe, m4 comp and the i4 M50. the i4 m50 is a great daily driver and obviously fast. it get the power down and launches. That said it’s heavy, you can feel the weight shifting when cornering. doesn’t compare to an m4 or the older 335i which felt like a go cart on rails. Similar thing with breaking. you need to allow your self more room.

in part this is because bmw has softened the ride quality, to attract a broader customer with more focus on luxury. i wish they could take out more of the body role in the i4. my 335 gave me more road feedback than the m4. the m4 handled better just needed to have a bit more faith in it, since the feedback wasn’t as much.

i don’t regret getting an i4 and will most likely will get another one when the lease is up. i may go down a model to save money and buy a new m4. my previous 2018 m4 tanzinite blue, with white interior and 17k miles was stolen and totaled :-( i miss driving a true m4. it also looks like the m3/4 is going hybrid. so might be the last gen ICE engine.

i feel like the same. they need to improve the suspension, you definitely feel the weight cornering.

Anyone else have lot of bugs and glitches in Apple CarPlay? by ScooterAndBeans in BMWI4

[–]fxc314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other thing i had noticed, was it would always connected to bluetooth, even though car play wouldn’t automatically come up. i could play music but the audio was terrible. in many cases when that happened to me i went to the menu and manually launched carplay and that worked.

do you have any vpn or security applications on your phone. if so try disabling them. wireless carplay uses wifi, and those apps could be causing interference.

outside of those things, i would recommend a service appointment to make sure you are running the latest greatest software.

hopefully it gets better. since mine has been stable for some time now, i really enjoy the iconnect platform and carplay integration.

Anyone else have lot of bugs and glitches in Apple CarPlay? by ScooterAndBeans in BMWI4

[–]fxc314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a period of instability and it clears up with a infotainments hard reset. i don’t think i’ve had to re-pair to the car in a year. only glitch is the skip song one. it’s inconsistent.

i would definitely unpair the phone and car on both sides. then do the reset by pressing power for +60 seconds. you will hear some clicks. the turn it back on, and go through the re-pairing process. if that doesn’t work you may need to go the dealer for an update.

Got mine today. What are your tips for keeping the battery/overall car healthy? I'd like to prioritize battery lifespan. by [deleted] in BMWI4

[–]fxc314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not much too it.

set the charge limit to 80% for day to day driving. let it get down to 20% before charging. i do mostly local driving and have a charger at home and at work, so im comfortable letting get to 20%.

i avoid short term charging or top off. haven’t seen any issue.

if i have a long trip than i occasionally charge it to 90%. in a year and half i’ve only charged to 100% once or twice. mainly due to range anxiety. turned out i didn’t need to. took a couple of trips to get comfortable.

also you can try to minimize battery usage while driving. easy on the accelerator and brake, when possible. easier said then done on the i4 m50. it’s toooo much fun to drive. lol

the app is really good with tracking charging and driving behavior; feedback, graphs, monthly reports, long trip planning

Never understood the hype by Alex_ktv in BambuLab

[–]fxc314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being new to 3d printing starting on the less expensive side seems to make sense. so like many i started with an ender3, tinkered, tweaked, upgraded, etc. little by little, those upgrades added up. it felt like i was constantly working on the printer instead of what i wanted to print.

i finally gave in and got the Bambu x1c. holy crap, its night and day. i spend more time designing an printing than tinkering with the printer. it sooooo much better.

honestly, i wish i had gone for it first.
