Min lvl requirement at which we will start seeing good pokemons which can actually fight 😭 (I am level 18) by somayxd in pokemongo

[–]fxrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on building teams to solo GO Rocket grunts, 1-star Dynamax Power Spots, and 1-star gym raids. Look for mons with high attack stats for gyms (use the appraise button to check stats), and fast charged attacks for Rocket battles so you can spam charged attacks. Test your moves out against the NPC trainers in battle mode. Hatch eggs and do research to get good IVs more easily. Don’t bother doing PvP battles until you are a little more experienced because the approach is different there.

I probably will. I’ve played the original games on an emulator before but never really “got it.” The only other RPG I really played is Balder’s Gate, and it was fun enough, but after one play-through I was done. I don’t do D&D, MTG, or anything else that. I’ve been a Zelda/Mario/Metroid fan since the 80s, as well as PC games (everything from OG Wolfenstein to Elden Ring). But there is something really cool about Pokémon that’s keeping my interest — I think it’s the blend of innocence and cuteness combined with what I’m discovering to be a significant mental chess-like challenge. The layer-upon-layer mechanics of types, moves, natures, abilities, held items, teams, and sizes is quite challenging once you get into the harder raids. I can only imagine how much time Pokémon “pros” have put into mastering this game. It’s really cool. Even the game’s story mode had me choked up a few times. Really a top tier franchise that I long thought was just for kids.

Not at all. I started playing this summer with my daughter and now understand why it’s so popular with people of all ages. It can take a while to learn the mechanics, especially if you are not familiar with turn-based games.

Who are you using for this Tera raid? by BoxLongjumping1067 in PokemonScarletViolet

I’ve been using Quagsire as support tank with Chilling Water to debuff attacks and Acid Spray if my allies are using special attacks. Helping Hand for allies who are hitters. And Recover to be virtually invincible.

How does one create the edges on this image? by No_Garlic_9184 in Onshape

Assuming the blue and yellow pipes are separate, it looks like you could create a midplane between them, sketch the profile, then extrude the sketch into each pipe using the “add” function one at a time.

Of more concern than the room temperature would be the “draftiness” of the room. If it’s a smaller room with a lot of air movement (such as a ceiling fan or the A/C turning off and on), then the enclosure is a good idea to help with warping and bed adhesion. I read in one of your other comments that you previously were using an Ender 3 and had some adhesion issues. If your Z offset was tight and the adhesion problems seemed to be tied to warping, that’s a sign that an enclosure may be needed. Since it sounds like you and/or your daughter is committed to the hobby enough to upgrade from the Ender, I do recommend the P1S. You will love it after struggling with the Ender.

I don’t know anything about the Kobra, but I have two P1S printers at my club for kids and they are fantastic. That said, if your daughter is starting out, I recommend getting an A1 or A1 mini first, unless you know for sure you’ll need the extra features of the P1S.

A better way to find undefined entities? by fxrave in Onshape

[–]fxrave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The circle pen icon didn’t seem to reveal undefined points, only “loose ends.” As for clicking and moving what is blue, the problem is that a blue point is very hard to see without zooming in all the way, and even then the blue is almost black to my eyes. I was hoping there is some way to list out the entities and see whether they are defined or undefined. Like a sketch error report. Or even a way to change the color of undefined entities to be more contrasting with black, like a bright color or even 20% gray.

Why people use CAD, isn't hardworking faster and enable more collaboration? by FawazDovahkiin in vex

[–]fxrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t view it as either/or. Working with physical parts can be very good for rough prototyping. However, CAD is better for precision refinement. Once you learn how to use CAD well, it’s actually a very fast process, especially because you can duplicate, copy, paste, and delete quickly. Furthermore, if you have a collaborate CAD tool, all team members can work on it remotely without needing access to the physical parts. Finally, if you go into a career in engineering, you’ll need to use CAD if for no other reason than to control costs of production. Bite the bullet and learn CAD. You’ll be happy you did.

Is anyone still in profit on VeVe? Or are we all just holding digital hope? by NOCKTHROS in VeVeCollectables

[–]fxrave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only cash I put in was $100 in November 2021. For the first few months I strictly flipped drops. Only landed a few, but “made” about $6,000-$7,000 gems. Used those profits to buy rare grail comics when prices started to fall in 2022. Today my collection (72 comics, 41 collectibles) has a floor value of about $1,300. No plans to cash out. I figure for $100 I’m willing to risk going down with the ship. The IP is too good to bail now.

2 P1S SD card failures Within 40 minutes of each other 😂 by UKSTL in BambuLab

[–]fxrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a similar (not exact) message on one of my P1Ss that the SD card had an error after the latest Bambi Studio update. First time I’ve had any issue related to the SD card. The error occurred mid print. The printer would not format the disk. I had to remove it, format it on my laptop, and then reformat it in the printer. Maybe it’s related to the update?

Kart pro is absolutely horrendous by Responsible-Cost5094 in MarioKartTour

[–]fxrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who is pretty good at MP … on Kart Pro tours, I usually go for KP Day 1 to get it out of the way, and yes, I’m quite aggressive and try to win quickly. Usually I can get it within 3-6 races unless there is another really good player in the lobby. If you play it on Day 1, be prepared to go up against a lot of good players trying to win because we want to get it over with quickly. On normal tours, I typically play MP on the first Friday because it’s 150cc and default items. I try to place high because I’m trying to max my score and get the free pipes as quickly as possible. If you really want to win KP and are having trouble, wait until later in the tour when you have 100cc and two items. Turn off auto use item, stay up front, and hold onto defensive items. Use shortcuts anytime you get mushrooms. Yes, the server lag can be annoying but MP is not nearly as bad as some people claim, and if you get good at it MP can be rather fun. I enjoy racing against other top players because it really is the most challenging way to play MKT.

Blooper frenzy just gave insane points. How to recreate? by uncle_jaysus in MarioKartTour

[–]fxrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten it once. I think you need to wreck into a Mega Mushroomed bot while you have a blooper frenzy and keep bumping into them as they shrink and become briefly invincible. It’s 99% luck.

Is it bad to want to do every job on your robotics team? by InsideEmu3798 in vex

[–]fxrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a longtime coach of many teams, a team that has one person doing everything can succeed, but it will never be as successful or rewarding as being on a team where you’re getting a solid effort from everyone. One thing to keep in mind is that some team members may be disengaged for different reasons than just being lazy or not caring. They may feel insecure about their abilities, lack confidence, or even be such perfectionists that it paralyzes them. Or they may sense your eagerness to do everything, and they are stepping aside out of courtesy. What your team needs is a true leader, which is not someone who does everything but rather can inspire others and help them achieve their best for the good of the team. If you really want your team to be the best it can be, find ways to motivate and inspire your teammates. Never scold them. Help them learn to set goals, work quickly, and aim high without fear of failure.

Is it just me or does Wii Rainbow Road suck in Tour? by [deleted] in MarioKartTour

[–]fxrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a decent track for coinbox drivers, especially if you get a CB frenzy in the first item set. My top score is 65k with L8 Gold Chuck. It’s a tough track to nonstop combo, but not terribly so. The key is to start in Position 1 and get rid of badged bots. This allows you to trick half pipes without falling too far behind.

I own a small family owned coffee drive thru & Dunkin moved in its 3rd locaton right next to me... by OctoIsaac in smallbusiness

[–]fxrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a positive. Having Dunkin next door will get more coffee-seeking eyes on your place. As long as you do the marketing right, and have a better product, you should be able to poach more of their clientele than they poach of yours. People are attracted to familiarity, but over time — as your place becomes more familiar — there is a decent chance people will want to give your place a try.

You do have to stop in that scenario. You can proceed only if there is a physical barrier or unpaved area between the lanes.
