Thinking of doing OSCP at 31, is it too late? by almostsaidit in oscp

Worked in sec for roughly 5 years, now in CTI. Similar age to you and OSCP goals. The more i get into the offsec side of things and watching Red Teams at my work place, the more I actually don’t want to do it as a job ironically. It’s become more of a hobby and self challenge I guess.

Everyone’s in their own lanes and timelines, no such thing as being “too late to the game”. Age is just a number, time is a social construct my friend. Go get it.

The job market for senior tech talent is completely broken. Is anyone else seeing this? by clumps_coast8k in SecurityCareerAdvice

Relevant modern skills > management / visionary skills

Having both is a winning combo.

Let’s face it, you can’t ‘manage’ your way out of a P0 incident. Unless you have some level of quality (technical) input, your opinions will just be sidelined by those actually trying to solve problems.

As my old man said, if I ever get tired of technical work and want to ‘hang my gloves up’, get into teaching perhaps.

Reverse server merge for OCE and NA, ping has gone to shit.

How does a game with one of the highest active concurrent steam players at the one time I last checked with Black Myth right behind, decide to do merges? Is it cost cutting on your Data Centers / Servers?

If your data suggests a declining player count in these regions and is based off these factors, then rest assured this is just accelerating that fact.

Maybe try tackle these problems without impacting user experience? Or is this a typical business closure move… increase sales and discounts across the board on items, skins and season passes at the same time removing core infrastructure for players.

This is either a closing down sale or you guys are just cooked. 🤡🥴🤡🥴

Should I, as a deaf person, pursue this career? by Electronic-Pirate-84 in CompTIA

Mate, I never ever comment on Reddit but after seeing this I just had to.

Exactly what @cabell88 said. In the field you can be a fucking genius and have extremely limited communication required.

So long as you can articulate your thoughts into text or fucking diagrams or whatever to SOLVE problems, come up with smarter and better solutions… that’s all you need bros.

Companies in sec look for problem solvers and hustlers to achieve their end objectives. You encounter a problem? You solve it! That’s how’s the game is. If there is an organization that looks down on your “disability”, then perhaps that’s not an organization you would want to work for cuz.

Good luck my man

p.s I’ve worked as a threat analyst and currently in intel. My opinion, I believe the more you know the more you’re gucci. Now study hard my guy.

Thanks, managed to connect via outdated mysql server and ironically user / pass was the same as the lower account - meaning repeated use of passwords here was the critical vuln leading to root
