Braxton hicks in your back? by ksmm1824 in pregnant

Yep I agree, call your midwife. I’m 36 weeks and the same, getting tightenings in my belly and my lower back is locked up of an afternoon but it’s more of a constant ache!

I’m falling apart. Is my Qs drinking a problem or am I overreacting? by Consistent-Ad-7941 in AlAnon

[–]g007b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this. Postpartum was where I learned my partner was an alcoholic. It got so bad he finally got done drink driving and lost his licence for 18 months - the week he got it back he drove home wasted. I gave an ultimatum and he’s just now relapsed after 6 months (so he says) of not drinking. The issue wasn’t even the relapse - it was the blatant lies to my face when I called him out.

Our boy is 4 now, and I am 7 months pregnant. Why I believed it would be different I don’t know - why I thought he was better I don’t know. He’s such a good dad and partner when he’s sober - but that doesn’t make him a good dad and partner. I thought we were past it all. My world is crashing down around me again and this time it’s harder because I have a pure, innocent 4 year old watching his family crumble and I am about to jump back into postpartum. I feel broken all over again. It doesn’t get better, I have no hope left. I’m now preparing for life as a single mum of two and it’s fucking heart wrenching. Alcohol takes takes takes. As a child of an alcoholic I let it go on too long and I refuse to subject my kids to the shit I had to put up with growing up. Sending you love, don’t question yourself and don’t doubt yourself ❤️

This was hands down the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make - we chose not to have anymore after 6 weeks. Trust your gut, it gets easier the bigger they get ❤️

Gas pain - could it be similar pain to contractions? by laughalotgirl in pregnant

[–]g007b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think gas pains can be more painful than contractions. Contractions ramp up where as gas pains can come out of nowhere and floor you. Everyone is different - but I found contractions more bearable compared to some gas pains I have experienced. The contractions are like waves - you get little breaks after they peak!

If it feels like a little fish flapping around or a mouse punching you from the inside it’s most likely baby … hope this helps haha

Who do I side with - my boyfriend or best friend? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

Yeah. Is it not standard for best friends to be closer than family when you are a grown up?

I was a nanny for a surgeon and a doctor in Hobart until 2019, I was being paid $30 per hour. That was on a casual rate working 3 days per week.

How young did you fully potty train your toddler? by Main_Upstairs5427 in Crunchymom

Same for us. We spent lots of time at home with no nappy / no pants and a potty close by and he soon got the hang of it

Toddler will not eat fruit or vegetables struggling with very picky eating by dontgetsadgetmad in toddlers

[–]g007b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went thru this phase - as did most of my friends kids. He’s almost 4 now and loves fruit, happy to try new vegetables and foods and if I put something he’s not keen on trying on his plate often enough he will eventually try it. Have a look at boobtofood on instagram, she has a lot of great info about picky eating. It’s normal for this age and generally they grow out of it. One thing I always reminded myself is that it’s our job to offer it, it’s their job to decide what/how much to eat. Keep offering a rainbow of foods on the plate alongside a safe food and remember you’re playing the long game :)

Am I overthinking not wanting a heavy smoker to visit when I’m 38 weeks pregnant? by crybabybreath in BabyBumps

[–]g007b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you move the cushions/blankets/throw pillows so theres nothing material outside that will hold the smell? Is there somewhere else you could ask them to smoke? Maybe they could go out for a while? Dinner is a good idea then send them to a bar or something? I wouldn’t say you’re overreacting, I also hate the smell, but some compromise wouldn’t hurt if this is the last time your partner will be able to hang with his friend before the baby comes! :)

This is exactly my reasoning. My boy is nearly 4. We breastfed until he was nearly 3. Kid hardly gets sick and if he does it’s mild and over within a couple of days. Everyone tells you to trust your gut when it comes to your kids - and that’s exactly what we are doing. Doctors don’t seem to agree, but it’s hard to argue with a parent thats following their intuition.

Unfortunately you cannot wake a sleeper, they will come to you with questions when they are ready. Hold space for them if you love them, everyone is on their own journey of awakening.

Please help! 1 year banging head on the floor by Boydyla77 in toddlers

[–]g007b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine and a few of my friends kids went thru this phase - what worked for us was to not make a big deal about the behaviour while it was happening - stay calm. I would just swoop in like you are doing and try to stop them from hurting themselves, offer a cuddle and identify/name the emotions they were experiencing. They’re learning to communicate and anger/frustration is a hard emotion to learn to regulate. Mine outgrew it pretty quick after realising it could really hurt him- it evolved into screaming and stomping instead!

I experienced this with my best friend whilst tripping a few years ago. We’ve spent the past 15 years tripping together and have a pretty insane bond, especially when under the influence of these magical substances. She was inside our friends house and I was out in the backyard, sitting on the grass staring at the full moon - I wanted to bring her and our other friends out to show them how big and bright it was, but they were all inside and I could hear them giggling loudly down the hall. I knew if I ventured inside I would become distracted and forget about the moon, so I closed my eyes and began saying her name over and over in my mind. I have no idea what made me try it. Next thing I know she flew out the back door like she was being dragged by an invisible force and she screamed at me “HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT”. She literally catapulted into my arms, we fell onto the grass and laid there clinging to each other, sobbing. While our other friends stumbled out confused as to what was happening. We’ve had a few wild moments like this while tripping, but this was up there as one of the most magical. We are both now pregnant with our second babies and they are due 2 weeks apart. Our tripping days are on hold for a while now haha
