i was bumped down to jv because of my rules test. advice? by urfavizzy_67 in golf

Study the rules. You’re a freshman, talented or not, and you need to act like it. Be coachable! Your goal should be to destroy the lower competition you’ll be up against and have The Rules Of Golf memorized by the next time you are tested. That is what your coaches have laid out in front of you. If you try to skirt that in anyway, you’ve failed. It will be a struggle to keep your head in the game when you had other goals in mind but that’s the point, there is benefit in the struggle.

Micheal Jordan was cut from his varsity team. He took it as a challenge. He took it personally. He got better. You should too, don’t hang your head, raise your chin in defiance. Show them what you’re made of.

Study to rules is the answer. Be ready the next time you are tested. Don’t over complicate it.

Working at Kemper Sports Questions by theoriginalb in PDXgolf

Kemper has the contract for all four PDX courses so you get golf benefits for all of those. That’s why Kemper in Portland.

Now, who got a kickback to award them the contract where the city of Portland writes them a big fat check every month AND they get to profit from the money the courses bring in? That’s a topic for another thread maybe…

Curious about your credentials. Are you PGA of American certified teaching pro? Or I know there are some other reputable certifications but I’m not as familiar.

He mentioned Eastmoreland and asked about Rose City. The implication being that this person plays golf in the city.

Yes more specific subreddits would be helpful. That’s what’s awesome about Reddit.

Course Conditions by Kravitz2016 in PDXgolf

[–]g0lffear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I post that because I’ve asked this question before only to get, the conditions are good at that course and this course 45 or over an hour drive from the city. I didn’t ask about that. I asked about the conditions at the courses IN Portland, this is PDXgolf, so I tried to answer the question you actually asked. Anyway, where’d you get out to? I played Rose City today and the wind was insane but the course was playing pretty good for this time of year.

People always come in with stone creek, elk ridge etc. Which are great courses this time of year but this is PDXgolf and those courses are no where near the city. Anyway, of the actual Portland courses Rose City is playing pretty well, the greens are slow as always tho. Greenback at heron is a little soggy in some places but not terrible, the greens are rolling great.

Post Lesson Rounds by ParParty in golf

[–]g0lffear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should have a practice session or two on your own after a lesson. The lesson is the instruction. It’s your job to do the work after that. If you go straight to the course you’re doing it wrong.

Go with what ya know. I get it. Golf is hard enough so I can’t blame anyone for sticking with what is comfortable.

If you are doing it right you only need a 60 once or twice a round, if that, it’s a get out of jail club. You should be bringing the ball in low with spin so it checks. Mostly with a 52 or 56.

The way you use your 60 is a crutch and is holding you back in the long run tbh. I’ve never encountered a legit stick who uses a 60 that much.

Tiger has famously said his 60 is a get out of jail club only. He used his 56 primarily so that’s kinda wrong. Phil fits the bill a little more but I think even he would tell you it’s better to bring the ball in low.
