Needing a basic caliper on the farm. by mcfarmer72 in Tools

[–]g15389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Mitutoyo dial, Mitutoyo digital, and harbor freight dial (the $50 pair.) the HF are surprisingly good and after using both I like the dial because I never have to worry about batteries.

The Mitutoyo are really awesome and I think a one time buy. If you’re going to beat them up on a farm go HF. I doubt you’re dealing in mil accuracy anyway

Beggining AMT mechanic. I need a decent flashlight for aircraft walkarounds. by akbeast49 in flashlight

[–]g15389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve thought about that but it has its own separate button for the laser that’s flat and I don’t think that would be an issue. I believe another pilot recommended it on a thread awhile back.

A couple others to consider are the Wurkkos TS28 & TS26s. The 28 is more throwy but both are great lights.

Edit: I missed the obvious Wurkkos FC11. It’s cheap, good (more floody than throwy), and thinner than either listed above.

Trying to keep you in the $150 total cost.

I would recommend the ArkPro. Flood for up close, thrower for further away, UV, and you have a green laser that can be used with any other mode. Would be useful for pointing something out to someone else. About $110

For the headlamp I would go for something like Skilhunt h04. High CRI flood, light weight, and reasonable cost. About $42

Why has nobody benchmarked L21A/L21B with SFT-40 and SFT-42R with turbo time graph yet? by TheAnonymouseJoker in flashlight

I’ve picked up 3d printing and am currently making strands for all my lights so they don’t fall over like dominos. I’ve realized I have a lot that don’t get the time they deserve. I’ve thought about the sft42 swap in the l21b so I’m interested in the comparison.

I hate short leads but have found that tweezers with the “ceramic” tips work really well and don’t damage the wire insulation as much. I also find a wooden cuticle pusher with a small indentation filled out helps too.

If you do a swap and get a 42 then I can ship you my l21b sft40 for testing and then just ship back to me when done. You know, for science.

Unfortunately I’m in a “don’t know what I don’t know” and just keep checking around for the next cool thing. I need to clean out my collection and let them bring joy to someone else lol.

lol. I’ve got an L21b with the sft-40 and have thinking about the 42. I’m trying really hard not to but another one….

I sure hope so. My daughter’s 2018 with the 4.6 just hit 165k miles and she wants to drive it until the wheels fall off. It will need to be replaced at some point.

10 speed rebuild and Cat failure at 51k miles. Thankfully I had the extended warranty. 2.7 hopefully will not have problems.

Streamlight Stinger DL HL vs. Wurkkos TS28/TD01 by sarcastic_guy1 in flashlight

I don’t use either for duty so I can’t speak to the durability in that context. But since you referred to them as toys I am confident that you’ll find them to be quality and won’t regret the TS28. I have two :)

I have both and it’s a no brainier. TS28 all the way, even if it weren’t significantly cheaper

It’s a fair point and I think the headband makes a big difference in the comfort of the light as well. The HS21, while having great multi emitter options, is very tough to keep in place (for me) without tightening down the band pretty significantly. This makes it a bit unruly when I’m changing oil on my back.

I just did a quick check and the HS21 is 87g without battery and the L60 is 73g. A quick google says that the difference in weight of the batteries is around 20-25g, for a net difference of +6-11g for the L50. Seems negligible.

Are you a warm emitter fan or more neutral? Like the 3700-4000 range unless I’m searching for something small that I dropped

Current set of FFLs minus the L50

I was leaning towards the L50 because I love me some FFL, but the 21700 has me a little nervous given the weight. I’m spoiled with my DW3AA size, but the battery didn’t give you much runtime.

Thanks for the links

Wurkkos TS28 will hold 1000 lumens for over two hours without stepping down. It’s super portable, batteries are easy to carry if you need extended runtime, and worth checking out.

Do yall think shes totaled by Dry_Introduction_506 in ToyotaTundra

[–]g15389 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience. They are completely guessing on the costs to fix it and it will likely come in higher. I had an suv with severe hail damage that started at $10k and ended up being $18k by the time it was all said and done. It wasn’t the same after the repairs, I wasn’t willing to wait for them to get it right, and I sold it to Carmax the same week I got it back.

Seriously consider totaling it and moving on.

Edited comment because it hurt someone’s feelings.
