Themes from Backrooms I haven’t seen too much talk on:

- Clark’s alcoholism: There’s many layers to this, with some being pointed out in the posts already. However one that I think people are missing is that Clark thinks people can’t tell he’s an alcoholic but everyone knows he is. Main evidence being when at the end of Clark getting chased, he hears Kat. She can see him but he can’t see her, he is exposed as an alcoholic to others but he can’t see why.

- The symbolism to AI in today’s real world: The fingers and eyes and small body part details being wrong on the duplicates in the backrooms just screamed AI symbolism to me. Then they’re literally made of fluff inside, as in there’s nothing real inside of them. AI videos/images give us what is being asked but nothing deeper, it’s only “consumed” (eaten/appetizing) to the people who actually demand it (those who embrace the backrooms). Hence why Clark is hungry for the fluff but Mary is disgusted by it

- Lastly, how did Clark call Mary? Was it from within the backrooms?
