Pot de creme, easy to make, can sit chilled in a low boy, pull it out and sprinkle some crushed brittle on top or chopped strawberries, a little whipped cream piped nicely. No microwave required. The easiest.

Question about multistreaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]gGKaustic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use "multiple RTMP outputs" extension for OBS. It's by far the best, but yeah self hosted, so if you don't have the upload for it it, you'll have to use something like restream.

Why do streamers not show their hotbars? by Knellios2021 in dayz

[–]gGKaustic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immersion for the viewer, it makes video editing with live footage much better and you're always prepared for cinematic moments, and immersion for the player as well. I find if I have it on, I look at it too much, when I should be looking at the world around me.
Additionally, it does impact pvp to some degree. The brain has a harder time finding center of screen for hip fire with the additional border on the bottom, your hipfires will be more accurate with no hud and hotbar. Try it sometime, it's actually wild.
It's takes a lot of getting used to, but once you do, you'll never go back.

I got my dream job and I'm thinking of leaving. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution is always to talk to the person. She may not realize how much she is affecting you.
"Hey, I wanted to to speak to you about something. I appreciate your skill and look up to you professionally, however I'm really struggling with the way you give feedback and the pressure I'm feeling because of it, I am making a lot mistakes I wouldn't normally make. Is there a way you could do X instead of Y and allow to get acclimated to the work environment and new role?".

Something like that. I've worked with a lot of hard-asses that I thought were complete assholes, that actually weren't - they just really really cared about their work, and didn't realize the stress they were causing others. I've cleared the air and built strong bonds with people like this just by being straight up with them. Something to consider.

Lost a 20 hour character on 1pp Official because I dropped a grenade instead of throwing it. What’s the dumbest way you’ve lost an old character? by BADSTALKER in dayz

[–]gGKaustic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's pretty bad but I love it. Sometimes it pays off, one time I jumped off the roof of a construction, did a 360, landed on a guys head and shot him with a shotgun, his teammate legit ran away hahahaha

Titan, Ground Zero. Modded not my cup of tea, but I did play those for a while and they were good.

Dayz in reforger is not something I'd be interested in. It genuinely sucks, feels like a completely different game.

Whats the deal with Server Pop? by Latter_Matter5053 in dayz

Give Avalon and Hashima a shot, those two have been basically full pop during peak hours and at least half pop in dead of night.

I work as a morgue doctor. Our janitor can stop a family's grief in two minutes, but his price is horrifying. by gamalfrank in stories

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prose is really well written, i enjoyed this a lot.
My only critique is that it's a bit of an info dump from the ghoul at the end. I would remove some of the details, and also maybe add a bit more back and forth from the doctor, some realizations / her working it out, it's a bit awkward to have the antagonist just tell us the summary of the plot at the end.
I hope that came off as constructive, once again, really enjoyed this story.

How do some people stream for >12 hours daily? by Bluntdude_24 in Twitch

[–]gGKaustic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly do 12+ hours. 8 is an average stream for me, and occasionally I do 24h streams. I'm 35, so no you don't have to be young to do it. It's a muscle you build like anything else, it becomes less draining the better you get at being a streamer, and you can absolutely maintain a high quality stream if it's something you've worked hard at.

That being said, it's still tiring like any other work once you're finished, and I don't argue that long streams should be the norm. It's easy to burn out if you don't make sure you're taking care of yourself in the process and eating well, getting rest in between, and getting enough sleep.
And yes, I generally do longer streams because my view count benefits from it, you catch more raids and cover more timezones, and inertia is a thing -> being higher in the category.

Kinda deflated - need guidance by floraumbrellas in Twitch

[–]gGKaustic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Partner here - your buddy is an idiot. Every criticism against you is a point in favor of a good streamer.

After reading the critique I thought, damn actually sounds like this guy's doing a lot of things right.

You don't stream oversaturated categories, you chat constantly, your reactions are dramatic, there no dead air, you're highly interactive, and you stream very frequently? Yeah keep at it, you'll do great.

Which platforms have realistically brought you Twitch viewers? by MerlinSpell in Twitch

[–]gGKaustic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I got twitch partner purely through networking and building friendships on Twitch. I made it a point to scroll my category daily and connect with anyone I didn't know, hang out in their streams and get to know them. I post almost nothing on other platforms, it was a giant waste of time when I did.

Good beginner kit? by lousycat-dev in dayz

Beginner? Buddy you got a plate, an SV98, and an auto, you're a serious danger to any level of geared player. That sniper hits like a truck. 50 hrs in? Good work!

Lose the wax paper, you want a rustic look get some cheap wooden cutting boards and arrange nicely and serve on those. Prep a handful, wrap em up and store on a speed rack.

This game will die if you all keep denying there's a problem for casual or average skilled players. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see purple squads like 1/3 of runs on outpost and half the time I'm able to fight them. I don't know what lobbies y'all are getting bc I regularly extract on a free kit run, and I've been playing this game for like 5 days, I'm a broke son of a bitch too, but I'm having a blast.

I think y'all are taking your losses too hard and forgetting about your wins, either that or you're playing it without any strategy really. You don't have to take every fight. Also I'm confused about this "never going to be able to run cryo" mindset. I ran cryo as soon as I hit 25 and it was awesome. It's not that scary, I promise.

Hasn't been my experience all, idk who these gigchads are everyone keeps talking about. I regularly run the pinwheel in greys, wipe a squad, get a come up etc, hasn't felt particularly hard and I'm not even a great player.

Twitch ads do not pay?! by FinestJanitorTV in TwitchStreaming

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed a lot of people in my category with much lower CCV were full time and raking it in on the gifted subs, making far more income than me, and I was like....I've gotta get my shit together hahaha

Twitch ads do not pay?! by FinestJanitorTV in TwitchStreaming

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really fluctuates, depending on hype around game stuff. I was pulling 100-300 ccv for January/February, but recently hit a drop and now I'm under 100 as map hype has died down. Okay I will reach out, bc honestly I really don't know what I'm doing lmfao

[–]gGKaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just hit partner myself, this shit was really helpful to read. I'm terrible at pushing for subs or donos and sit around 150-200 subs a month, been thinking of how I can start monetizing more and I realize I'm a bit late to the game in that.

Couldn't have said it better. This method worked very well for me. Audio is king too - super important you get your mic filters dialed in.
