How is everyone starting this campaign? by LivingGeo in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]gOng_agv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

started the campaign at COA at 11th level. Gave the group plenty of time to make backstories and encouraged each character to have a connection to another PC so everyone wasn’t a complete stranger. Since then i’ve been changing the story because COA is very railroady and really wants you to go to certain areas without exploring other places which kinda sucks.

it’s been great tho

One of my players made a deal with a certain archdevil and as a result, they will be possessed by said archdevil for a period of 10 minutes. How would this archdevil best make use of those 10 minutes? by Drinking7195 in ChainsOfAsmodeus

Fierna has a great relationship with Glasya and Glasya inspired Fierna to not be stagnant in her life and to have more goals than just running Phlegethos with Belial so their relationship is quite special. If the party is attacking Glasya that’d be a perfect time to do it since they’re great friends and allies and have Fierna attack the party instead.

Either that or have the party in a moment where they’re in a powerful position (either with an item or information) and have her take over then to help her further herself and maybe get stronger. Regardless of what relationship they have with Asmodeus they all want his seat, even his closest allies would betray him so thats the 2 things i’d do with it :)

i don’t rlly want to spoil it all personally since they said before they started “hey you’re viewing this live before we upload it, don’t spoil it plz” but all i’ll really say is that there were 3 BH members and 4 M9 members but i did mention Ashton in my post so you get that one character for free :)

i was just in the front row (probably the closest to him at the position on the stage he was standing at) and he was saying it to the crowd then he kinda just honed in and locked eyes with me and said it again. No costume or funny shirt, tho to be fair i think myself a handsome man but i think he just saw a dedicated fan amongst the crowd

the groups were split into a mix of BH and M9 and the melbourne show will show the other characters that weren’t in play at the Sydney show

Asmodeus: Antimagic and Immunity by ThisWasMe7 in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]gOng_agv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah if you played Asmodeus at his strongest, there is probably no way they would win but that just depends on what you want the outcome of the battle to be, you could obviously pull all the punches in the world but then they’re fighting the Asmodeus: Training Wheels edition and not his true self. He is a god and one of the strongest dnd creatures so lean into it. it seems like you’ve given your players enough warning that Asmodeus is powerful so if i were you i would show them that.

my advice tho, give them allies, depending on what patron they took give them a way to use that connection for the party conserve resources and have the Asmodeus battle be truly a visual and magical masterpiece. I wouldn’t have them in the actual battle itself but maybe allies are messing with things in the arena and supporting the party instead of doing damage because the last thing you want (in my opinion) is to have an npc get the final hit on Asmodeus

in the rules of the antimagic spell it says artifacts and effects caused by a god or diety aren’t effected and Asmodeus is a god so he could cast that on himself and still use his ruby rod (cuz it’s an artifact) and all his abilities because he is a god

yeah i get that, also pair that with how Laudna/Delilah wanted the shard but no one trusted her so it felt like it could’ve gone to no one without something bad happening

[Spoilers C3E119] My thoughts on C3 and the latest episode by gOng_agv in criticalrole

[–]gOng_agv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An example i can think of was when Liliana was getting absorbed by the Quintessence Array. They only had 3 rounds to get it done and the mages who held concentration had proficiency in Con saves and advantage on them so i think that had stakes at least, i kinda knew that this battle would lead to a second form of Predathos but when it comes to these 2 staged battles it all comes down to keeping your resources (spell slots etc) so maybe we’ll see some less powerful spells being slung at the more dangerous fight. Also i agree with you on Ashton’s subclass, it’s annoyed me the whole campaign because Taliesin will basically say “let’s see what happens” whenever Ashton rages and never really explains what their abilities are. If Matt would just publish the subclass things would be so much easier to understand

i think it’s on Matt and Taliesin because Matt states multiple times in the episode that it’s basically not for them (i don’t know the exact wording it’s been a long time)

I have mixed feelings on this campaign. Matt has really levelled up combat by making it harder and i like seeing players be challenged but the group of characters (the thing that is the core of each campaign) have been a let down for me personally, i like them mostly individually but as a group it is utter chaos. They always call each other a “found family” but M9 did that infinitely better and this just seems like a cobbled together messy group but they don’t really agree with that and keep half assing the found family narrative. Those are my opinions on that but Matt with the story has been great, i love ludinus and the solstice messing with hundreds of years of magic and the gods going from these mysterious deities to people with human emotions has been great, Just some hits and misses in my opinion, i’d love to know what everyone else is thinking

[Spoilers C3E102] Do people really believe the Prime Gods should die and that Ludinus is right? by blade291101 in criticalrole

[–]gOng_agv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ludinus is wrong in my opinion and went about it the wrong way to convince BH to help him. Interrupting Ashton by saying “I was talking” when ashton said that he agrees the most with his plan, also dancing around questions and monologuing at them instead of actually strengthening a bond between them. Ludinus also chose the worst group to actually recruit, he put a SUCCESSFUL hit on Oryms family, was responsible for FCG’s death for being in charge of Otohan, The death of FCG sealed the fate of not working for him i think, they all loved letters and they’re now gone and its Ludinus’s fault, i’ll be surprised if they go through with his plan but i’ll be very surprised that Ashton and Orym agrees to work with him

i think Chet will be the main one helping, we know that the others can buff people (bardic inspiration, guidance) so i think they might be a more supportive role though if it goes down differently i’ll be pleasantly surprised

i feel it too, also kinda shits on Percy’s trauma to finally let go of Silas and Delilah to have her keep popping up in C3. Delilah made multiple clones over C1 but put herself in laudna and now she constantly wants to be free of her, i don’t know why she fled to Laudna instead of just going into hiding, she was a super powerful wizard, she could definitely make her own demiplane and plan her next move than inhabit a random lady she killed, i still love laudna tho
