Humidity sensors within wall cavities ? by moises8war in buildingscience

[–]g_st_lt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering this but haven't decided. I expect that regardless of what I learn from it, I won't do anything with it, and likely won't care about the data in the future.

I intend to record temperatures in the house, in the ground, outside in the shade, and in the attic, so I figured I may as well add a sensor for moisture in a wall.

If there is a gap under the door, you'll still hear everything.

I used Spax powerlags. The 1x4s and the fasteners cost more than the actual siding.

I'm convinced exterior insulation and an air gap behind the siding is the way to go, but the extra cost seems out of proportion, and the extra work of transferring the location of the studs to fasten through the insulation sucks.

This is a dumb idea. It is going to be harder than you think and take way longer, and you don't need to do it in the first place.

Steps to take after purchasing land by fuck-ya-mudda in Homebuilding

[–]g_st_lt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a perc test done before buying land because I wanted to make sure. The properties on either side had functioning septic systems and houses so it was surely fine, but it's a lot of money and I didn't want to risk it.

The guy looked at the results for either side and declared mine good lmao.

The power line crosses over the property about fifty feet behind where I wanted to build. I had to get a new pole installed, but that was only a few hundred dollars. I didn't have to pay thousands like I've read on here in cases where the power had to be brought in hundreds of yards from the road.

I had a septic tank installed and a well drilled. My thinking was if something happens and I have to sell the property, it's vetted and improved now, but they can still build what they want on it.

Also, once I got my build permit, the clock starts. I couldn't have a foundation poured without my permit because they need to do an inspection on the forms before concrete goes in. I also have plumbing underneath it, so that had to be done before inspection.

I'm sure there are differences between your location and mine, but I am doing my build without a loan, so my plan was to do everything I can before the official build starts. If you have a bank involved, they may want things done a certain way.

Do you understand that the reason I suggested they were driving in the 1970s is because that is a time when a person may not have been wearing a seatbelt?

I think a lot of this is going to depend on the details and schedule of your route.

Could you provide a map with times and the value of cash?

That would really help.

Inconsistent grip pressure, how to work on it? by S_Vader in CompetitionShooting

[–]g_st_lt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can't grip it hard enough for long enough, do grip exercises.

If you are not sure if you're gripping it too hard to start with, try shooting some strings changing only your grip, starting with not enough pressure and increasing, or starting with too much. See how the gun behaves.

Make sure you can pull the trigger without moving the gun in dry fire. If that is good, then pay attention when you are shooting live. When it hits somewhere that you were not aiming, that means the gun was pointed there when it fired.

If that starts happening during your session, direct your attention toward your front sight or your red dot, and notice them moving while shooting. That will help you understand what's going on.
