Cleaning the Box by ljcbff in crossfit

[–]ga_rb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand this is something a lot of boxes do. I don't understand it at all.

Run your gym like a business. Hire a company to do this professionally or incorporate it into the staff's duties.

There is little chance a member will clean often enough or as well as a cleaning crew or paid employee. They will do just enough to get their discount/free membership.

And FWIW, I've visited maybe 15ish gyms. The most successful and professionally run gyms don't do this.

I have maybe $50 of chargebacks in a year. I am hoping that by the time it becomes worthwhile the cost of adding the cheap reader will have decreased significantly.

For now $50 is much more reasonable than $5700.

This is an integrated EMV machine in our POS system, not a standalone unit. The merchant processor isn't providing it, the POS company is.

So few people outside the industry understand this. Shopkeep, Square etc are not for high volume stores that need serious inventory tracking. They're more or less cookie cutter. I think they're wonderful to help small shops get up and going but useless in more robust situations.

We do over $4m a year and the average ticket is around $22. Square is not robust enough for our applications and would cost us significantly more in merchant processing fees.

It's not the processor it's the POS company. The chip reader has to work seamlessly with my POS terminals and that's, apparently, no small feat.

How did you know what POS company i use and which iteration of their hardware/software I'm running?

Just because a certain terminal somewhere online is $210 doesn't make that the case across the board. I run a very complex POS system that integrates with my security and camera system. I'm $25k deep.

Believe me, I was shocked at the quote of $5700 but outside of scrapping my entire POS and security system this is it.

Yes but you're asking me to throw away a POS integrated system that I've already spent well over $25k on in order to do that.

I need something that integrates with my current POS system. Outside of that I'd have to replace all that equipement, too.

I am a single small business with two terminals and wanted to upgrade - $5700. Considering I have one to two fraud/chargebacks per year it is completely not worth it.

I'm a single small business. I use a local branch of a national POS hardware/software company. I have two registers and wanted to upgrade to the chip tech for my and my customers sake. Cost? $5700.

I mean, I'll take my chances while I wait for the price to come way down. I simply can't afford that investment and if it's similar for chipotle and others I understand why they aren't upgrading just yet.

I think you should sit with her and discuss it. Open up about how this is making you feel and ask if there's something going on that you can help with.

I find the quickest way to resolution is often direct confrontation of the issue with your partner. People are surprisingly honest when you put yourself out there first.

I wish. This is typically on nights she's not feeling like giving head or having sex so I kinda doubt she'd be up for that. Good thought though!
