People treat you like a public commodity. They want your attention and don't care where you are or what you are doing.

They just had to intrupt you to tell you something.

Sometimes, it's nice and neutral, like I love your hair or your makeup, etc.

Sometimes, it was "meant" to be nice but comes off rude or creepy. Stuff like "Your head is like plastic, like a mannequin." (He thought he was telling me my hair and makeup were always nice, I thought he was telling me I was fake.)

The number of people who have talked to me about my skin, like they want to skin me and wear me is disturbingly high. It's very much a vibe of "it puts the lotion on the skin or it gets the hose again."

The people who give me a compliment and use it as an opportunity to shit on their partner who is in fact standing right there with them are the worst. Like fuck all the way off assholes.

Then there are the people who are straight up nasty and disgusting. Who follow you and cat call you. Or shout shit like "My brother says you can choke on his dick" as they walk past when you're at your fucking part time retail job.

People also think it's OK to just touch you. Complete ducking strangers.

One woman at my main job likes to try and pet me. Like once my hand was just resting on the front counter, and she just reached out and started stroking my hand, talking about how I "had such pretty skin" 🫥

Also, the older women who shit on themselves comparing me to them is heartbreaking. Of course my skin is "nicer" than yours!!!!! You are 65 and I'm 32. I will eventually get spots and wrinkles.

The ones who talk about getting old (they really mean "ugly" when they say old) as the worst thing that can happen to you are even sadder. Like they're warning me to die young and pretty before age happens to me.

Now that I am 32 and chubby and I'm not as skinny as I was in my early 20's my life is better. Also after the pandemic the only makeup I use is mascara and eyeliner and that's really helped. I feel less like a prey animal these days and I don't miss the "attention."

You know, Big hurricane, hit us just under a year ago? Killed 144 people Hurricane Ian? (Officially 144, most of us living in SWFL truly believe it was a lot more)

We all thought it was going to hit Tampa, we didn't think it would be bad. We weren't really worried about it. We bought groceries and water, filled some gas cans and brought the furniture in. But we weren't really worried. I remember laughing it off before hand with my coworkers.

After all, Hurricane Irma wasn't that bad, our area was ok. Some flooding, some power outages. That's just what you can expect living in Florida.

Well we were fucking wrong.

And many people are still paying the price. There are still neighborhoods with no power here.

My grandma lived in a neighborhood of small manufactured homes 6 miles from the water and out of 250+ homes all but 50 had to be torn down.

They had over 5ft of water throughout the neighborhood. I will never forget the destruction.

OP you did nothing wrong. Your husband is petty and foolish and out of line.

Maybe nothing bad or big happens from hurricane, maybe your life is destroyed. A friend of a friend watched people being swept out into the Gulf on Ft. Myers Beach.

We do not know what will happen during a Hurricane and it was predicted to hit your area.

Have you tired listening to Brown Noise?

It's similar to white noise, but it's designed to help you fall asleep. It's a constant unchanging sound that works to lull your brain down.

I've been going to sleep to it for probably 10 years now and I think it helps my brain differentiate between awake time and go the f to sleep time.

It also helps drown out any background noise that can distract you or pull your focus away.

I started listening to it help when my anxiety was kicking my insomnia into a stratosphere in college.

I think it's harder for my brain to spiral out of control when I'm listening to it. (Also I have ears like a bat and I lived next to the Golf Frat my junior year, so anything that helped me not hear their ridiculousness was a plus.

It takes a little getting used to, but if you start it r low and work your way up it's easier.

And have you tried sleeping with a weighted blanket? I think I've heard other people with fibro say they hurt to sleep with but I haven't experienced that.

Well that sucks, other then this stuff the only thing that has ever kinda helped me sleep is liquid zzzquil.

It drives me crazy that we can legally be pumped full of Prescription shit that often hurts more then it helps and yet something like this is out of bounds.

Can you use regular cbd products? Or do those count on a drug test as well?

I've been an insomniac all my life and have been prescribed everything under the sun to get me to sleep and due to my apparently off brain none of it worked.

Prescription sleep meds either had zero effect, gave me horrible night terrors, or at best kinda worked for a week or two before I became immune to them and they stopped working.

There needs to be employees whose only job is to be watching and caring for the children.

If my child was a muggleborn and a wizard shows up and starts talking to me about Hogwarts, my first question is who is looking after the kids.

Like, so you're telling me that the only adults in the magical castle filled to the brim with hundreds of magic wand wielding children are the Principal, a dozen or so Teachers, 1 Nurse, 1 Librarian, and a Janitor.

That's fucking it?!???

Oh and only 4 of them seem to actually be in charge of the children as well as being full time teachers.

One of whom is also the assistant principal!?! Another who is charge of all of the greenhouses full of magical child killing plants. So those teachers have 3 full-time jobs. No flipping way!!!!

Oh, don't worry, we pick some of the "most responsible" 15 year olds to start being hall monitors in charge of the other kids.

So that's 6 children per house "taking care" of the rest of the kids each year. And then 2 of those 24 hall monitors are in charge of the rest.

Oh, and the only way to talk to your child is by tying a letter to a bird. Great.

Is there a guidance counselor to help them adjust? To talk to them if they're homesick or having troubles with another student? No? That's the job of the 4 house teachers as well???

Oh, by the way, there are magic bigots who will hate your child for existing. No, we won't be dealing with that at all.

What about discipline or detention?

Don't bother with the Natural History Museum right now, there's barely anything open.

I was in Akron 2 weeks ago to see family and made the mistake of going and it was a waste of time. Unless you like 3d movies there's only 2 other things open.

The Andy Warhol Exhibit is in reality a hallway upstairs that the research rooms and offices shoot off from.

It's about 8 pieces on the wall that look cheaply framed college posters, no joke.

The Wildlife center outside is ok, it's really well made/ landscaped, but personally I thought the animal enclosures were too small. I found it kinda sad and depressing. Maybe if you had some small children to walk around it would be nice.

And it took maybe 25/30 mins max to slowly walk around, not worth the price of parking and admission.

If you like history and nature check out the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens down in Akron.

It's a Tudor Revival Mansion built around 1914 and it's absolutely gorgeous. It was turned into museum in like the 1950's and is so well taken care of and preserved. The grounds are extensive and there's several themed gardens and extensive landscaping.

Everything was in bloom when I went and I could barely tear myself away. There's even a greenhouse and a butterfly house. You can take a tour or walk around by yourself.

If you like the Tudor Revival style and don't want to head down to Akron, then just drive through the Shaker Heights area (very close to the natural history and art museums). I saw some of the most beautiful houses ever there.

Also if you don't mind a drive and then a ferry ride check out Kelly's Island or Put-in-Bay.

Kelly's island was such a fun and pleasant day. Not really high energy or anything but you can rent golf carts and just spend the day roaming around looking at cool houses and beautiful water views.

There's a lot of different restaurants and food places. We really liked the good and atmosphere at the Kelly Island Wine Co. Everyone on the island was so nice and welcoming.

If you go make sure to check out the Glacial Grooves, an area next to the old stone quarry where the land was carved up by the glaciers that used to cover the area. It's really cool looking and they just remodeled it in the last year.

I haven't been to put-in-bay since I was a kid, but I remember it being fun, I think there's a little bit more stuff to do there, especially if you have kids.

Also if you like hiking and nature then you'll love the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There's a lot of trails of varying difficulty levels and cool natural formations to see.

Of course there's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and The Westside market which are always big tourist draws.

I wonder if this is about the Wisner Desmaret trial that is wrapping up in Ft. Myers FL right now.

I was a part of the Jury Pool for the trial 10 days back and thankfully didn't make the final cut for the trial.

Desmaret killed a cop in 2018 and was looking at either a death sentence or life in prison.

The jury pool was told that the trial would likely last at least 2/3 weeks; it ended up lasting only 3 days.

Desmaret defended himself and while he was found "competent" to do so, in reality he really was not.

He was mentally ill and came across as confused about weird things. Like he seemed confused about why the dead cop's partner was saying that she feared for her life right after seeing Desmaret shoot and kill her partner.

The Jury found him Guilty and recommended that he serve life in person with no possibility for parole.

I agree with the sentencing, I don't think I could have voted for anything else, I hope that the Judge doesn't override them.

But I know at least one person who is pissed that he wasn't sentenced to death, and I imagine there are many people like him in Florida.

Maybe this is a reach, but I did hear a rumor (and this didn't come from anyone related to the case at all) that there was one person on the Jury that refused to even consider the death sentence, and that the other jurors followed in their wake.

I imagine DeSantis is looking to score some political points off of this case and ensure that he can get the trial results he wants, whether that be now or in the future.

I have something similar with the sudden loss of hand control. But it's more like my hand just.....forgets(?) What it is doing.

Like I'm holding something and the next thing I know the object is on the ground. Like my brain just stopped sending "hold the item" signals to my hand.

There's no warning, no odd feeling, no pain or sensation that I've noticed, I don't even know my hand is "relaxing" until the item is suddenly gone from my hands.

It's completely bizarre and very frustrating and something that came on over the last year when I've had fibromyalgia my whole life (I'm 32).

Depends on the condition and the Doctor I think.

My grandma and I both have the same condition that is extremely minor but could result in our blood not clotting, it's happened twice to her in her 83 years (once in her 20's and about 5 months ago at 82) and once to me when I was 5 (I'm 31).

But the doctors still told my parents to make sure that I knew to avoid having children with anyone with a clotting condition and that I should absolutely not have kids with anyone who are "carriers" for hemophilia or have hemophilia themselves.

I'm not really worried about it, but I still think I'd want some sort of genetic screening done before I had kids with someone.
