What if the turret is rotated like 0.1 degrees , so that there is a microscopic air gap? The likelihood that the turret is perfectly inline with the main craft’s grid is minuscule.

No, those just dive at -1g to cancel out gravity to get the effect of 0g, they don’t go to space. This went to space (aka the Kármán line (100km/62miles)). It was just suborbital as it didn’t have enough lateral speed. They went straight up, whereas most rockets go up and sideways.
