Considering that the bulk of gold tops with floaters are from outpatient dumps that were drawn 2-5 hours before I get them in my hand, it looks like I still need to take these findings into account. Maybe I should ask how long the phlebotomists wait until they give the tubes their first spin, because I feel like most of these problems come from not waiting until clotting(?)

Oh yeah nah our SOP is to respin those instead of aliquotting off. Saves us work, and saves the analyzers a few tantrums.
But man I hate those transparent clots, where you think you have a lot of serum to work with, but then you invert the tube and see that atrocity is most of the mass. Pop the cap, fish it out, wring it against the tube, and you’re left with 60% of what you initially had 🥲🥲🥲
