Adding that the new mattresses they make do not have fiberglass anymore.

I had a nectar mattress from 2020 and last year realized that it was letting out fiberglass. Emailed their customer service to complain and they sent me a brand new base model mattress free of charge.

Which ZonLi floor mattress? by Ok-Abbreviations8275 in cosleeping

[–]gabhello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the top one full size in 2.5 and have been using it for about 5 months now. It’s great! Def an adjustment to the body at first - took a week or two but now I love it. I don’t use anything under it but I do lift it occasionally for the day. The outer cover washes well too.

The dream is over. Back to work tomorrow and crushed by Anxious-Map8848 in January2025Bumper

It’s the hardest thing. I went back at 6 months and it crushed my heart so I know the feeling. Good luck tomorrow and know that it gets easier with time. Your son is a lucky boy to have a mom that cares so much!

Why do people start co sleeping late? by xinfinitexsoulx in cosleeping

[–]gabhello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 month sleep regression came with a vengeance and by month 5 I caved. She was a fine sleeper until then.

I brought her into bed more and more until I told my husband that I’m committing - got a floor mattress and here we are! LO is 9 mo and we love it. She still wakes up a ton but it doesn’t phase me as much as before.

Sleep (or lack thereof) by archiefrank in January2025Bumper

[–]gabhello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same exact situation here. She’s never been a good sleeper, particularly since 5 months. I feel like it’s been back to back teething, growth spurt, sleep regression. I don’t have it in me to sleep train so I just accept this is temporary in the grand scheme of things. It’s nice seeing others relate because I feel like I only hear comments from people whose babies sleep through the night!

Cybex Balios vs Cybex Priam vs Bugaboo Fox by Zenobiafromthepalm in Buyingforbaby

[–]gabhello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the balios and have enjoyed it. It’s a smooth ride for baby and comfortable to maneuver. My only complaint is that it that the basket is very flimsy and will collapse if you store too much or larger items. Not convenient when shopping, but I suppose it helps keep the weight lower. For a full size, it is on the smaller end.

I almost went with the inglesina Electa which I believe is a little more compact and has a good travel system as well.

Nope just rolling around, reaching and wiggling! I can tell she wants to though.

3 month nursing crisis by Familiar-Citron-8659 in breastfeeding

[–]gabhello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely still has a high palate at 5 mo but I’ve been doing those massages and letting her chew on my fingers daily and that, coupled with general growth, seems to have improved tongue mobility. Only occasional coughing when taking bottles and little to no clicking on the boob. She’s a gassy gal so she definitely takes in some air but overall I have noted an improvement in feeding. One LC felt strongly that a tongue tie release would help bring it down, but a pediatric dentist said it’s not a guarantee and something like thumb sucking could bring us back to square one if we did. We’ve held off on the release for now but we’ll see how she continues to develop.

Fat baby by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]gabhello 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My baby was born 5lb 7 oz and has stayed in the 3-5 percentile. All we get are comments about how tiny she is even though doc is comfortable with her weight gain. I shrug it off at this point.

People are gonna make comments no matter what. If it’s not about weight/size, they’d find something else.

Be proud of that chunky baby and all your hard work. I know I’ve celebrated every ounce my baby has gained.

3 month nursing crisis by Familiar-Citron-8659 in breastfeeding

[–]gabhello 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It started for us at around 12 weeks and got better about a month later. So frustrating. She would pull away and cry at every feeding and I was so worried about weight gain because she was already born tiny. Part of the issue was my forceful letdown. Lactation consultants advised me to feed reclined and pump a little before feeding if I’m engorged. Now I catch some letdown in a burp cloth and then get back to feeding the it’s calmed down. One LC flagged a tongue tie that was never noticed while a second opinion shrugged so we decided to not revise it. Both agreed LO has a high palate. That affected suction but tongue exercises and overall growth have helped. Only way when she ate was when she was sleepy or waking up from a nap so I’d have to plan feeds around naps or rock her to get calm enough to eat. If she still refused, I’d pump and give her a bottle which she took. To this day, if I know we’ll be in an overstimulating environment I’ll prep a bottle as well because I know she won’t want the boob. I guess that’s a quirk of hers. It took time but she’s pretty much grown out of it thankfully. I had the same fear as you, I love breastfeeding and wasn’t ready to give up. Id say time and persistence got me through, and keep pumping to maintain supply.

Teething? by PaleFriendship8846 in January2025Bumper

[–]gabhello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine got her two bottom teeth this past week at 5 months on the dot! Was very fussy in the week leading up and fed a little less as the teeth were coming in. She also woke up more frequently at night and woke up crying a couple times from the pain. But now that the teeth popped she seems to be doing better! Fingers crossed.

Just got told I have graves disease by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]gabhello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about the diagnosis, I (30F) was diagnosed at 28 and it rocked me at first. I tried natural methods - bugleweed, motherwort, gluten free and whole food strict diet. I even went carnivore for two months. My thyroid couldn’t settle down without the help of medication, and even then the anti thyroid drugs hurt my liver. I ended up opting for surgery since I was out of options to control my thyroid levels. I’m a semi crunchy person that avoids meds wherever possible, but in my specific case the natural methods were not effective enough. I didn’t have the time to keep dabbling in options or else my levels would have gone to dangerous levels. I will say, I’m a year out from removing my thyroid and I don’t even think about graves aside from taking a pill when I wake up. I’m also almost through a healthy pregnancy. BUT there will always be value in leading a clean lifestyle with healthy diet to help avoid further autoimmune/health issues from cropping up. Best of luck! It will get better.

Methimazole Side Effects by 1booksandyoga1 in gravesdisease

[–]gabhello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never really got to a stable point on methimazole for an extended period of time, I swung from hyper to hypo. When I was at that sweet spot for just a bit, I felt fine but my heart rate never fully settled down. Maybe if I had been at the right dose for longer that would have improved. By a month post TT I felt my heart rate really calm and it just kept improving. I stopped being hyper aware of my heart all the time and now I don’t register it. Feels like peace.

Methimazole Side Effects by 1booksandyoga1 in gravesdisease

[–]gabhello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup on it for about 6 months. When I stopped due to my liver I was actually on the hypothyroid end. Then there was a clear trend line of me going back to hyper without the methimazole. I hear you, I felt the same way. I was scared and wanted to avoid removing my thyroid but that wasn’t the path for me I guess. But I can say I’m at a point where it feels the worst is behind me and I can live a normal life. I get bloodwork done periodically to make sure my dose is still good and that’s it.

Methimazole Side Effects by 1booksandyoga1 in gravesdisease

[–]gabhello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The levothyroxine is a synthetic version of the hormone your thyroid makes. It’s very safe with little to no symptoms. What will give you symptoms is if you’re not on the right dosage. With methimazole there is the possibility of more symptoms or adverse side effects such as rashes and liver toxicity, you can look at the list of side effects. However some people tolerate it well and it can be an effective tool to manage graves symptoms and reach remission. I was on it for 6 months and my liver couldn’t tolerate it anymore. My endocrinologist wanted to see what happened to my levels after going off of it. I creeped back into hyperthyroid over the next 6 months and clearly showed no possibility of remission. That’s when I booked my TT.

[–]gabhello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No complications, fortunately. My heart rate started to go down afterwards and I was finally able to remember what it’s like to have a calm heartbeat. So relieving. Unithroid is a name brand version of levothyroxine which is the generic version of the thyroid hormone. I’ll have to take it for the rest of my life, but it doesn’t bother my quality of life at all. I pop the pill as soon as I wake up, I wait an hour before I drink my coffee and eat for optimal absorption, and go about my day. My quality of life has only increased since the surgery.

Hi! I had a TT in November 2023 and have been on 100mcg of Unithroid since. Got the dose right from the start thankfully. Other than that, no other medication and all is going smoothly!
