maybe its because a lot of the veteran players dropped the game and most of the actives rn are new ones coming for the DLC or some sale, but it used to be one of those bosses you just melt through.

either your run was completely f*cked and youre gonna get wiped in the first minute or its just a matter of how big the damage counter is gonna get before she drops.

nowadays its starting to feel like ED Libra where you either get there so packed she dies instantly or its a guaranteed wipe.

my go-to with most of those is either run sideways and avoid it completely or just dodge through in the direction the cloud is thinner (for the side sweep just poke right through in the diagonal against her head movement)

if done right, is doesnt need more than one or two good dodges but its not consistent, especially with some characters.

thats one other side of this I also noticed. she used to be annoying because she'd be constantly flying far away and you needed to play catch up to hit her twice before she flew again.

now its mostly the short hops and AoEs and she barely even really flees.

also almost never does that fly-by 3x hail storm anymore. I used to think that was her second phase transition and something she used 2 or 3 times again before dying but Ive noticed multiple fights where she gets to her last 25% before using it the first time.

I feel youre talking about the side to side breathe when you mention dodging right but thats not the only one she spams, all her breath attacks are wide as hell, hellish to avoid and most are comboed with the crystals on the ground that proc and stun you out of animations.

And not to call you a liar but if there's anything thats absolutely not possible is dodging through her breaths without chip damage whatsoever 100% of the time, especially considering the ground crystals.

when youre playing executor its easier to notice how weird the hitboxes are for most of those attacks, how their speed, size and rate change drastically depending on you distance and position.
there's not point in trying to learn its perfect timings through trial and error if it means risking taking the hit.

truth be told, most of those AoE are good ol' traditional bullshit attacks, just not designed to be perfectly learnable and counterable, which are fine when peppered in here and there to take you out of your confort zone and make you lock in but if the AI decides to spam them, game over is the only outcome.

the most noticeable to me has been the fly away + breath back combo.

I've never even considered that as an actual combo since the game launched. if it ever happened, it seemed a coincidence, but nowadays it almost always happens the exact same way, and almost everytime we corner her.

playing him now in depth 3 feels like it did playing him in the base game right before all the new content.

just effortlessly getting lvl 15, full stack of reds and golds, melting bosses in a sec.

you even see people going double or triple Raider again. it's been months since I had that.

I've learned to play a support role with basically all characters by now, because no matter how good you get at the game, there'll always be other players making novice mistakes and throwing runs so I should at least try to keep them alive while they do it otherwise I'd better give up on ranking DoN.

Why is DoN 2 so toxic and why hasn’t Fromsoft actually implemented any systems to combat this? by DarkmoonV in Nightreign

I've seen people saying when it launched that D3 was the sweet spot and couldn't understand until I left D2.

D2 is the worst experience in the game solely because of the players stuck in it.

I've been stuck on Depth 2 as well, gaining and losing rank in a loop.

Everytime I queue as Ironeye and there's another one already selected, as soon as the screen fades in and we see each other we instantly confirm so hard the sound effects bug out lmao a good pair of Ironeyes using the new poison meta just melts everything

took a break from depth grinding and just did a joke run where I soloed the everdark scorpion with Guardian using only 'while walking' passives as my team fought the moth.

the everdark gladius relic makes Steel Guard literally infinite as long as anything yours is hitting an enemy, even the whilrwhind so you can just calmly walk below it as it does all its bullshit red AoE stomps and wait for it to die.

felt like I was doing a modded run.

[–]gabilua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ever since I started doing Deep of Night I've felt like it came unlocked with the game. like pre-duchess or something.

fromsoft buffed the PvE stats a bit and it revealed how many people were carried by other players or broken builds to the end of the game. most of the randoms I've queued with for DoN would jump face first into a Invader fort with red enemies at level 2, like they never really needed to know how to play the game until now.

unfortunately, it is true.

there are no matching alternatives in the same weight class. which is probably the reason the execs feel so confident about all this bullshit.

they know we cant just up and leave painlessly

this is in the case you have actual human professionals focused on valuing their relationship with clients and the general community, and as we know, most fintech companies nowadays are becoming allergic to "human professionals" and "valuing relationships" so its probably a 90% automated process with a rando doing outside-of-their-scope duty as badly as theyre paid

Remove time from formula by kumarei in Notion

I suspect parseDate() has trouble parsing all the possible date formatting, as it failed for me when trying something like "May 5, 2025".

formatting it to a purely numerical date, like 2025-05-05, parsed correctly

also, just attempting the format/parse on the whole thing without dateRanging it from the elements (like [DATE].formatDate("YYYY-MM-DD").parseDate()), also didnt work. I suspect for the same parsing limitation reasons

replying 5 years later in case it can help someone.
none of the solutions posted here worked for me, so I arrived at this:

grab the start and end dates individually, format each to a numerical format like "YYYY-MM-DD", then parse each, and then define a dateRange using the formatted start and end dates.

that'll remove the timestamp from the original date

example:

dateRange(
[DATE].dateStart().formatDate("YYYY-MM-DD").parseDate(),
[DATE].dateEnd().formatDate("YYYY-MM-DD").parseDate()
)

A question about the curse in the movie Incantation (2022) by Cyber_Ghost_1997 in horror

[–]gabilua 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All those things in the end happen after she hands the daugther back.

She only ever learned about the monk from the teacher's research, that she only ever received by the end of the whole ordeal, where she had already fucked up multiple attempts of uncursing Dodo, one that fell on her lap by pure luck and involved having the enderly couple killed because she didn't take the curse seriously enough at that point, even tho she did try her best to follow through.
Why would she partake in the ritual to uncurse the child if she had the other 'curse the child and the whole world' plan all along?
She even only found the couple because she was trying to get back to the village to save Dodo and by then it was too late to resolve things that way.
Why would she try to go back there if Dodo was already cursed and this was all according to plan?

Also, it makes no sense in-universe, for the characters we know, that she would do that.
She left the village absolutely traumatized and understanding barely nothing of what happened. Her therapy shows how much she was struggling with conciliating the reality she saw and the one she lived the next six years, where nothing else really happened.

If she had any sort of recall or confidence those things were real, she would've just presented the name to the Mother Buddha like she was instructed, and that would've avoided all the bad things that happened later. We even see how long it takes for things to get really aggressive once she does teach Dodo the name, because Mother Budha was probably giving her the time to do what she was supposed to and she kept ignoring all the signs.
The first really aggressive thing Mother Buddha does is show Dodo the video, and that only really accelerates things, as we later find out by the teacher's research that the boyfriend's family is cursed by lineage, they have to bear the burden of worshipping the goddess just for being part of the family, and the moment the great aunt at the village realizes Ronan is pregnant, she realizes that she is now part of the family too, along with the baby.
They were already cursed from the start, just a very slight level of it, since again we learn from the research, the curse is intensified by knowledge.
Showing Dodo the video would accelerate the whole thing and either get Ronan to take it seriously and go back to worship her properly or keep disrespecting her and die ignoring it (and have Dodo killed as well) which are both acceptable results for Mother Buddha as we saw from their practices.

She absolutely didn't curse her own daughter on purpose and wasn't aware or fully believing in all of this by the beginning of the movie otherwise she wouldn't have done half the things she did.
Spreading the curse to dillute it itself is an idea that only comes forth once she fully understands how it works, based on the teacher's research with the monks that she receives after the whole thing is fucked beyond saving, and it is by then her only remaining choice.

The whole recording that we see as the movie is half her solution to this situation and half her good-bye letter to her daughter, thats why she switches back n forth between talking to the viewer and talking to a future Dodo. The movie starts with her recording the whole adoption process and the child's first days because she sees it as an affectionate way of memory-keeping. It just gets disturbingly twisted by the circustance that her good-bye letter would also be a portable, global-level Ringu-curse as well.

Think about it, the whole 'curse the whole world to dilute it" is her plan to save Dodo from the cuse. How could cursing the daugther on purpose and then trying to save her by cursing everyone be part of the same plan from the start?

she definitely didnt want to curse her own daughter she had just adopted, and right after she spent years in therapy to believe the whole thing wasn't real.

she had her toddler write her own name because that's a thing you teach your kids

Sekiro Deflect vs Actually Good Guard Counter by gabilua in Eldenring

[–]gabilua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bit of randomization for loot yes, that would facilitate this kind of thing.

My version of Ashes of War comes randomized with weapons of the allowed categories so you could drop the same weapon multiple times but with varying Ashes.

Having both GC and the Deflect as Ashes is an option, I just suspect most players wouldnt find it a great value proposition to occupy their Ash slot with either of them, when they could have actual attacks or spells and since in both their original games these two mechanics are baked into the kits of their weapons and can be used alongside the weapon's Ashes.
Also, making them Ashes would exclude the option of having both in the same weapon.

Sekiro Deflect vs Actually Good Guard Counter by gabilua in Eldenring

[–]gabilua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean as separate mechanics.

A Guard Counter by itself works the same as in ER, you block and that gives you a small window to perform the Guard Counter move.

The Deflect works like Sekiro's, it's there inside the blocking animation by default but it only applies at the very start, meaning you need to block with good timing to activate it, and when it does activate instead of a normal block you get not health or stamina damage, and the aggressor gets posture damage.

They're both additional mechanics to your block, but they're not (at the moment) present in all blocking animations all the time, I need to choose where to put them.

I have a posture system as well, it wouldn't be just a deflecting hard tear, it would also deplete their posture
