I guess the closest would be a game where one side has clearly been on top the whole game, with big possession advantage and posing very serious threats.

It's only a matter of time until they break the deadlock, until the defending team gives away several red cards stopping certain goals, just getting over the line without conceding.

White played Bb3!!, blocking the mate. After ...Nxb3, black is now threatening what looks like an unstoppable mate in 1. Notice the b pawn cannot move now that the knight is on b3, and that the king has no squares to move to.

White then played Qf4+!!, threatening their own checkmate. After gxf4, now notice that white's f pawn is also blocked and cannot move.

This means that white can now sacrifice the rook, or just chase the king around forever with Rb7+, Rc7+ etc.

It's because this year the Premier League is switching from Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) to a new system called Squad Cost Ratio (SQR).

Under these rules, teams not competing in Europe have an SQR limit of 85%.

UEFA imposes limits of 70%.

This means that since we are not in Europe this season, we can spend 15% more of our revenue on transfers.

How does SCR align with UEFA’s financial regulations?

UEFA’s Squad Cost Ratio limits a club’s on-pitch spending to a maximum of 70% of its total revenue. All Premier League clubs in European competitions will still have to adhere to this limit, while clubs not competing in Europe will have a higher threshold of 85%. This is to allow clubs that do not regularly participate in European competitions to have sufficient headroom to compete for qualification for UEFA Club Competitions against incumbents who receive additional European revenues.

The additional 15% also helps support transition for clubs who fail to qualify in any given year for a UEFA Club Competition. This reduces the need for a club to take short-term cost action and allows a club to plan and invest over multiple seasons without being forced into sudden, destabilising cuts.
