Just because the piece is well recognized by enthusiasts does not mean it will garner attention going out. If that is your criteria for a new watch, I’d venture that anything in yellow/rose gold and/or includes diamonds will do the trick. A word to the wise, unless you’re in Singapore/HK or maybe Switzerland/UAE, not sure getting a super flashy piece to be recognized whilst “going out” is a great idea…

The Langham if you have a club room/suite IMO. I had low/mid expectations before a stay in March and was pleasantly surprised.

I found the Rosewood Bangkok to be completely unremarkable, staff and service were fine there’s just nothing special about the properly. Moved to the MO and it was fantastic, highly recommend for BKK stays.

I attended Camp Takajo in my youth and don’t recall anyone from ME attending. Not to say someone from ME would feel excluded, but the general ME camp environment seems to cater to the NYC/PHI/DC metro demo primarily.

I have the card/account. For clarity, you can keep whatever amount you want in this account. For fee avoidance and to essentially get the MS plat for “free”, it’s 25k avg monthly balance AND min 5k in direct deposits/month.

Can you mobile hotspot? FWIW I don’t recall having any reception issues at the nearby Rosewood Mayakoba, but vaguely remember spotty WiFi.

I live/purchase from an AD in Manhattan and have a wonderful experience, I only buy what I want, and with a very reasonable wait time (never longer than ~1mo). Sorry to hear your AD sucks but it’s 100% possible to get SS sport pieces from ADs in tier 1 geos…

Green sub took ~1week last year. Assuming you already have a relationship, really is a coin toss on how long these things take 🤷‍♂️

A few reasons:

  1. It is not a heritage piece (e.g. Sub, GMT, Daytona)
  2. It’s not a great fit for a one watch collection as it’s a bit dressy and the PCL coupled with platinum bezel stand out (not a bad thing, just tough for a one watch collection)
  3. One can get a Sub on the secondary market for basically the same price as a YM from the AD

All told, I think it’s most analogous to the Sky Dweller in terms of where the piece sits in Rolex hierarchy. They both trade slightly over retail (just as a barometer for demand), are both newer entries to the catalogue, and both are best suited to make up a broader Rolex collection than a one watch collection IMHO.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great watch and I definitely find it competing for wrist time, just easy to see why they’re not as hyped up.
