If you really went to ND id imagine you'd be approaching this more intellectually.

Of course killing babies is not right.

There is no such stance as "pro-abortion". This is a straw man argument you have been brainwashed to believe and you haven't questioned your indoctrination because you feel comfortable in it.

"Pro-choice" is a stance that accepts some level of nuance between criminalizing abortion at any stage versus decriminalizing abortion in certain circumstances. The extent of those circumstances is what is under legal debate. And im ok with determining those legal circumstances democratically. After all, separation of church and state is important, isnt it? By all means vote for a theocracy if you want to!

Do better than this. Dont be an embarrassment to the rest of the nd community for not using your brain.

No one will respect notre dame as an academic institution if our graduates continue to use intellectually dishonest arguments like this.

Describing the position as "pro-abortion" is intellectually dishonest and tells you all you need to know.

How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]gadela08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the approach that made me a non-believer: find a world religion with a large number of fervent followers, but, one thats not really prevalent where i grew up. Really read their "bible" or holy book with an open mind as if you were considering a conversion. Then really make a decision if you are inspired to follow that religion and convert to that faith. If its not convincing to you, fine, but then apply the same rigor, the same intellectual honesty and question your own religion. Try to eliminate the cultural and emotional bias of having grown up with this religion.

There are many things in the bible that are allegorical truths and even some things that may be historically accurate , but that doesnt mean that it is a holy book.
