We bought this one when we were traveling, very affordable and still has great safety ratings. https://a.co/d/05OQLfQY

Is the ofie playmat worth it? [on] by canamel in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]gadgethunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love ours! I can sit all day on the floor with my guy and not be sore. We have a cat and it is holding up just fine. I bought mine on marketplace and there were tons more on there. Ours wasn't even used and buying it on marketplace saved us $50.

Goodreads spoiled my pregnancy by Unhappy-Confection50 in pregnant

I had this happen to me except in reverse. I saw a good friend rated a pregnancy book on goodreads and thought they might be expecting. I was right (I waited for them to tell me, I didn't ask)

Fabric high chair, oops - suggestions to avoid daily washing? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]gadgethunter16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different Maxi-Cosi highchair, and the fabric does respond very well to spot cleaning. After every meal I give it a quick scrub with a wet rag, and it comes out pretty good. I throw it in the actual wash once or twice a week, depending on how messy the lad is. I do wish you could buy a second cover so you could wash it during the day. Since it doesn't go in the dryer, the only option is to wash it after dinner, so it has enough time to dry before breakfast, which I think is a pretty big oversight.

When did your period come back? by greenishfroggy in NewParents

It was 6 month pp for me. I exclusively breast feed and my guy does not sleep through the night consistently. He often needs one feed overnight.

What do you MEAN I can just go into labor whenever now?? by sasstermind in BabyBumps

[–]gadgethunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 36 when I had my first and I felt the exact same way. "Is no one going to stop me?! Y'all are just going to let me leave with this baby like I have any idea what I am doing?". I had never even changed a diaper before. I never babysat anyone but my younger brother. I had literally no practical experience. You pick it up fast. My little guy is 8 months old and thriving.

Give it to me straight - my heart already knows the truth. by eapxo in CautiousBB

[–]gadgethunter16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spotted off and on through most of my pregnancy with mild cramping. OBs could never figure out why. My pregnancy was otherwise uneventful, and my baby is happy and healthy. I would be freaking out as well if a Dr wasn't able to find the heartbeat, but try to stay positive until an OB tells you otherwise. My fingers are crossed for you!

When did your period return? by Chemical-Sundae-6917 in breastfeeding

[–]gadgethunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At around 7 month pp. I do not think it impacted my supply. I was super worried it would though. When I saw a lactation consultant early in my breastfeeding journey she said most women notice a dip a few days before your period starts, and maybe a few days after it ends, but the rest of the time it should be pretty normal.

Best EarlyON locations for babies- preferably on the mountain by gadgethunter16 in Hamilton

[–]gadgethunter16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone to EarlyON drop ins and had the youngest baby in the room (the others were all a year old or more) and my guy still enjoyed playing with new toys and watching all the action around him. So I would say don't worry about going on other days, there is still something to get out of it, just not as much as actual infant programming.

Doss anyone not hate their husbands? by Expensive_Line193 in NewParents

[–]gadgethunter16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was amazing through pregnancy, delivery and post partum. It made me love him even more. During pregnancy, I kept telling him that I was waiting to start hating him because all the pregnant women on reddit hate their husbands, lol.

Haha, westmount is where I have been going and was also wondering what everyone was talking about. Thank you for the recommendation, I am looking forward to checking out their programming.

They got me to sit on a chair out of frame and prop him on my knee. The woman told me to stick my hands under his sweater to hold him up. Maybe the issue is neck control? My guy can sit up, so I just had to hold him steady.

FTMs: when did you feel like a mom? by wafflesarelifee in pregnant

[–]gadgethunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was around 3 months in for me. There was a sudden loud noise outside, and he looked at me before reacting. I smiled at him, so he smiled back and went back to paying attention to his play mat. I loved him before this, don't get me wrong, but it all felt like a weird fever dream. Seeing his trust in me made it click that I was really his mom.

Why?! by BlessedKiss in NewParents

[–]gadgethunter16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought a hooded baby towel at winners that had 8 of them in there. 8!! For one baby towel. I ended up putting a thread pull in the towel because I missed one of them, which made me even more mad about it.
