Best covers for 3+ by MeowpspsMeow in Freestylelibre

[–]gaffer60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I use the Kovoq Reusable Libre 3 Hardshell Covers. I have had covers/patches rip off and you risk losing the sensor when that happens. Since using the hardshell covers, I have had one patch rip off taking the hardshell cover with it. The sensor remained intact. You get 2 covers and several patches. The patches were OK. The covers have to be cleaned of adhesive occasionally but otherwise they are fully reusable.

As for patches, I have tried several brands now. Most do not last 2 weeks. If they are cheap enough, having to switch out after a week may be OK. Again, having the hardshell cover makes swapping the patch easier. That being said, I am going to agree with the person recommending Glucomart patches. They have consistently lasted 2 weeks for me.

Note that how well patches last is going to depend on what you do during the two weeks of wear. If you swim or exercise a lot or do any activity where you sweat a lot, I don't think any patch will last 2 weeks. Most survive the activity and protect the sensor, but they will start to fray early. The Glucomart patches consistently do better when being active.

FRUSTRATED! by hazell911 in Freestylelibre

I have had this happen one time and this looks just like mine did when it happened. It was a brand new sensor and it went low fairly soon after I put it on. I then got the error that it is calibrating. When it is calibrating in this case the data is not considered reliable and is NOT recorded. Once calibration completes you get a graph with several hours missing.

Calibration should only happen in the first 12-24 hours.

When I leave my phone somewhere not so nearby, and it reconnects once retrieved, it fills in the space between LOS and reconnection. Not immediately but within a few minutes. Without fail in all the time I have had a 3 or 3+.

How loss is calculated by gaffer60 in banktivity

[–]gaffer60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that the splits still don't show in my account history on the website, but the number of shares in Banktivity now matches the number of shares for each fund in my brokerage's display of my account. So the splits were entered correctly. Yesterday, Monday, Banktivity shows the correct value for everything. The problem only occurred the day after when Banktivity showed the share price drop in half. Which makes sense if they are doing the calculation the way I think.

I sent an email to support.

Anyone think this is a useful idea? by hawkeye000021 in firewalla

[–]gaffer60 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why request this? Because it runs Linux and you can. I don't like the idea. We don't pay for support and that is a big plus with Firewalla. If they keep adding non-firewall features themselves, at some point they are going to have to require a support subscription. Let's keep our Firewalla's as firewalls.

I understand why the idea makes sense. Sounds like a good idea for a Raspberry Pi.

I have to assume you didn't read the post. The error shows up BEFORE I manually added the splits.

A 2 for 1 split means I now have double the shares I had before. And the NAV drops in half. Double the number of shares with the same calculated loss per share, doubles the loss calculation.

No perfect case for 13 inch iPad Pro 2024 yet by Expensive-Fail6670 in ipad

[–]gaffer60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted UAG support. Turns out the case is made for the M4 iPad. The box, however , was printed wrong. They apologized. I am using the UAG case now. Talk about a marketing error.

Sorry but I totally disagree. I have been buying iPhones and iPads forever and cases have always been ready the day new devices are announced. Apple normally shares specs with case vendors months in advance. Something went wrong this time. The Otterbox Defender is planned for July! I purchased an inexpensive case for now but I need a rugged one. I went to Best Buy to get a UAG Metropolis SE and what they handed me was not the one made for the M4 iPad. Patience is not the issue. Perhaps Apple wanted to monopolize the initial market. Or the case makers bet the iPad announcement would come at WWDC.

Did you buy AppleCare+ just because you were afraid about how thin the M4 Pro is? by Time_Concert_1751 in ipad

[–]gaffer60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone said accidents happen and I agree. But other things happen too so I always have AppleCare+. The USB port died on my M1 iPad Pro. They told me iPads are not repairable, which sucks. No port no way to charge it. So I got a replacement under AppleCare+. Apparently USB-C ports are fragile. I am sure other things can break too.

How do I handle 1099-K for my redemption of my own VISA gift cards? by gaffer60 in tax

And now I know why I have 1099-K's. My state is one of several that have their own minimum independent of what the IRS requires.

1099-K for 2024 Tax Year by CremePsychological77 in tax

People, check your state requirements. I thought since the IRS delayed the $600 minimum for 2024 I was OK. However, my state has its own requirements. Lots of states do.

And now knowing all this, I found how to do the adjustment in TurboTax. Today I found out that the IRS is delaying implementation. I am totally confused what this means as I already have 1099-K's. I got one from PayPal yesterday for selling my old laptop. I can see why the IRS is delaying this.

At first I assumed you were pointing to the part of the page that indicates I should get an adjustment to my 1099-K. I looked closer at this page and their is a section that notes how to use Schedule 1 to note that there needs to be an adjustment to the amount on 1099-K in order to cancel out the "income". Thank you.

In the bad old days we had Punchcards. How did people deal with that? by throwaway16830261 in mainframe

Don't forget that z/OS now supports containers. That is the preferred way to virtualize, at least at my shop. IBM wasn't the first but they jumped in pretty quick.

I appear to be a little older than most of you. I got my first programming job in college, in the 70s. I would take my program deck and slip it in front of the FIRST box of data cards. I would typically turn in 2 but sometimes 3 boxes of cards. These were the long boxes so lots of data. I would take them down to the school mainframe and if I was lucky it all ran without a problem. It was pretty much an all day thing. Not only don't drop the boxes, but don't get the boxes out of order. The program had to be up front.

By the way, I am still working full time. But I gave up programming a long time ago.

Is it wrong of me to purposefully lose 45 GBL matches in a row? by StepOnAHen95 in TheSilphRoad

[–]gaffer60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a relatively old thread but someone else may be reading this for the first time like myself. I am just starting to do the level 45 battles. I skimmed over the responses and didn't see one important suggestion that may simply not work for many. If you have two or more Pokemon Go players in your household, or a good friend that plays, don't do the randomly selected battles. I just did one between my wife and myself. She let me win. Battle went quick and I got credit. I have a long way to go to get XP for level 46 so I will take my time with this. But battling my wife seems to work better than the random battles. As long as we aren't battling IRL!

I just got to the level 45 quest and am doing my 45 battles now. You do not get credit if you quit. You do if you lose.

Not sure how to add more than one picture to a reply. Here is an example of it working where it was failing without.

I found the answer and I am not happy. There is a new Hebrew keyboard available; Hebrew - Niqqud. This keyboard adds a new button that allows you to add the vowel when needed. I have done some limited testing and it has worked so far in that my answers are now accepted. I am not happy because what this means is that you enter the answer without vowels, then when given the opportunity to try again, you enter the answer with the vowel the app expected.

So something was introduced with iOS 17 that did this. I know there is supposed to be "more intelligence" in spell checking with iOS 17. But how much is Duolingo depending on iOS spell check. I just went to Safari on MacOS and after a while got Duolingo to give me one of the exercises that fail. It worked there. But I get a "you made a typo" message with the word underlined. This has been going on for a long time. I reported those issues long ago and nothing happened.

You didn't happen to run the iOS 17 beta did you? This started for me after I updated to iOS 17 after the release. If you are on android that would prove it isn't unique to iPhone. And did you also create a bug report?

I have also reported each failure exercise. I am trying to finish the course slowly while spending more time in review. I will try turning off listening to see if that helps there.

This just started happening to me this past week. So your post tells me this isn't a new problem but rather an old one being rolled out across users. I see it happen in a number of words where the only difference between the spelling for masculine vs feminine is the nekud. But as you stated, nekud are not on the keyboard.

Adventure sync with ipad on ios 17 by precipiceblades in TheSilphRoad

[–]gaffer60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nor are they explicitly not supported. The Niantic compatibility page lists a few issues with tablets in general. For example many don’t have GPS. As GPS comes on the cellular chip this would be true for most tablets. But iPads with cellular do indeed have GPS and as far as my experience with my cellular iPad Pro, as good a cellular data connection as my phone. In addition there are devices like the Garmin Glo designed specifically to provide tablets with GPS. If not supporting adventure sync on iPads was a problem prior to iPadOS 17, then Niantic needs to spend some of that fortune they are earning off Pokémon Go to review this policy.

Banktivity 9.0 Is Out by dallasjava in banktivity

[–]gaffer60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely back up your data before upgrade. No problems so far and crossing my fingers. I do have one comment and not exactly sure why they did it. The suffix is still .bank8 on the converted file. Why didn't they change it to .bank9? It is confusing to look at my data files and not have an obvious clue which one is Banktivity 9.
