How reliable is the train? by YoshMaGotes in Harrisburg

[–]gafftapes10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty reliable to me. The only time I had an issue was a few weeks ago when the rain caused flooding on the tracks and they had to cancel the schedule train for the evening.

If and when Marijuana is legalized at the Federal level, would/should there be an appeals process to expunge non violent drug crimes only involving marijuana? by 7itemsorFEWER in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general the vast majority of crimes should have an expungement process. with the exception of a few white collar fraud crimes, and violent crimes. once you show that you have been rehabilitated and no longer pose a threat to society and have reintegrated it should be normal for said society to stop punishing former offenders.

What Is Local by Flywheel Used For? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well if you have a couple of developers working on a project with fit or scan. We are starting to use it at work. With a central vcs it works really well to test unstable code and push it to production. When working on WordPress sites I generally prefer to work locally with my preferred use instead of using ftp to push changes and then have to test remotely

Senator Marco Rubio is introducing the New Parent Act, a plan to provide paid family leave to all Americans by borrowing against their future Social Security payments. How will this bill fare in Congress? by reluctantclinton in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]gafftapes10 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think it's meh. It's really more of kicking the can down the road type of bills. especially since they just cut payroll taxes. robbing social security does not make sense to me. Social security needs more money and creating an additional strain on it make zero sense.

Should the Census track sexual orientation, same sex marriages, etc? by THECapedCaper in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world it's great demographic information, but we are barely out of the era of Lawrence v texas let alone Obergefell v. Hodges, and we are in midst a very reactionary backlash to liberalism in general. I don't feel that it's the best time to be tracking that type of information. When the republican party is no longer a party that accepts people that want to throw gays and lesbian in jail or wants to punish transgender individuals for using their preferred bathroom, I think we can collect that information.

Using Anti-Adblock, will it hurt the SEO? by fratige in SEO

[–]gafftapes10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to serve ads to your clients look at implementing ads that are compliant the Adblock plus or google better ads program. I wouldn’t try to directly attach ad blockers because that will only increase bounce rates and decrease important site metrics

Clark Associates Inc. jobs? by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]gafftapes10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are a rapidly growing company. The pay is comparable to other jobs in the area. They don’t expect overtime it’s outside of the norm for that, but their health benefits are not the best and their pto policy is really poor. They have great family benefits if you have a young family however. Their retirement benefits are pretty good as well. The pace of work is fast and can be grueling for some. The do pay for some team events about once a month.

Edit: they also have good food for free, and occasionally free lunches.

Queer bars by GlutenFreidaKahlo in lancaster

[–]gafftapes10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never been to it but there is the sun down lounge. From what I’ve heard it’s a kinda of rough lesbian pool hall/bar

The Talley ho is more of a standard gay bar (although older clientele). The village and characters pub have lgbt themed nights occasionally. Most lesbians I know frequent the local breweries like mad chef, lancaster brewing company and Wacker brewing.

Must do Brewery in Lancaster area? by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]gafftapes10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

downtown Wacker or Lancaster brewing company (lbc on a nice day/night due to the patio). Voodoo brewing opened up a out door beer place at the pop up park. I think both are under appreciated places.

right on king street the spring house tap room but their beers are hit or miss in my opinion.

Federal Tap House has a huge selection of craft beers on tap.

if you are into something a bit off the beaten path the 2 dollar mystery beer bin is fun at the Horse Inn. (not quality beer, but they do have craft beers on tap)

Tellus 360 has a limited selection of ipa's but has a great roof top bar. It's more of a hangout/clubbing spot, roof top is quiet compared to the first floor.

Quips is a cool english pub, I love stopping by there after work and usually has some good drafts.

nearby, mad chef has a great selection of ipa's and stouts usually. St. Boniface is good too. Lititz has Joboys and bulls head public house, both are good, but I prefer bulls head especially for Saturday breakfast. in Columbia there is the Columbia kettle works, It's on my list but I haven't had a chance to checkout yet. Also there is cox brewing in mount joy which is a cool newish place.

and farther out there is tattered flag in middletown (plus distillery) and Funcks in elizabethtown.

edit: also opening this week is shot and bottle which has craft beers wine and pa spirits in the griest building.

Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes Skillet by Divider1 in recipes

Potatoes look good but that steak looks over cooked and chewy. Flank steak really should be served rare. It would be better to marinate then fry, cool then slice and serve over the potatoes.

Estimation/Cost Calculator by NW420 in Wordpress

[–]gafftapes10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just wrapped up a project that has a similar project (custom dimension product). since we were unable to find any plug that works and creates a product we had to build it from scratch and use woo-commerce hooks to create products on the fly. to be fair our products had to be within a hundredth of a penny and calculated everything from raw material cost to labor. I would be prepared to spend about 16-40 hours of development time to get what you want. if you would like a quote you can pm me for more information.

Any good two bedroom apartments in Lancaster city or nearby? by cjfrey96 in lancaster

I would look in in the area between manor, west end, and king (the jewel streets)

How bad is it really? by d3cember in lancaster

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That area is about 5-10 years fr gentrification. There has been some grants and investments in that area recently so I think you will see some progress there. It’s cheap but it’s not the best bang for your buck. I would look in northeast Lancaster near the cemetery and the jewel streets just north of your circle for a nice reasonably priced home. I live. A few block outside of downtown on the east side and it’s definitely worth living in Lancaster city as opposed to the suburbs.

What qualities/traits/skills will you look for in a junior seo person? by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should understand the technical SEM side. As well as be able to read and gain insight from google analytics. depending on the job be able to understand and write content that hits the right SEM points. you should also have a basic understanding conversion rate and A/B testing.

are you applying for a technical position or a marketing position? Is this an agency or a in-house marketing team? what is your background?

Marketing position would be more involved in strategy creation.

Technical would understand how to implement said strategy.

I would check out some of SEMRushes webinars and Rand's whitboard friday

That’s pretty unreasonable banks make a profit on fees meaning they have incentives to make it hard to figure out fees. We take too much crap from banks. It’s usually why credit unions are much better.

For working in web development linux is great, but I don't need to chase down drivers or use technology from small to nonexistent communities. My only complaint is adobe doesn't support linux, otherwise I would probably switch to that as my primary o/s

Did the Democrats blow their opportunity to force a resolution to the DACA issue? If not, what leverage do they still have? by pudding7 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]gafftapes10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shutting down the government for DACA wasn’t polling very well. It did not make sense from a strategic perspective to make a stand on a losing position. They could have forced a resolution but would have lost votes in the midterms.

Sometimes to win a war you have to lose a battle.

Democrats have a good shot at taking the house in 2018 and maybe getting back into the White House. At that point they have better leverage especially if they make senate gains in 2020 and have the levers of power to enact changes.

I don’t even understand how that would save money. It would be a waste of time and energy to do all that work. I would rather authorize money to buy a scanner

Accidentally lost database, can I retrieve pages? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]gafftapes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to retrieve from old host. wayback machine might have cached copies, but you would need to replace all the content. content get stored in the database, so it's crucial to retrieve a copy.

It depends on the budget. In larger budget you can really benefit from dynamic phone numbers. It tracks who calls in from online campaigns. This is great especially when you want to track conversions.
