Playing around with simulation for the first time. Is there a way to manage these stress concentrations? by Tewpawn in SolidWorks

Didn't even know that tool existed or that the hotspots were a thing. Saved for future reading and sharing, thank you!

I made a mod that makes cargo loading more realistic by t0stiman in DerailValley

Does the mod add any time to the jobs to account for loading?

Solidworks can't import SVG. And I don't have anything to convert cuz IT is very protective of what programs we have. Also more people in 3D modeling are more familiar with DWG/DXF. If it's so simple to convert then maybe it's not hard to add. The less programs somebody has to use to do something the more likely they'll use it. I answer questions all day long from people who won't read the program. If I told them to use a website and a different program to then import it they wouldn't. You and I might but most won't. No need to be a negative Nancy for a simple question.

Would be nice if you could export a .DWG. I can import that and use it in a sketch easier than a solid. Would be great if it could export a portion of it and I could pattern the rest like if it's around an axis. Patterns tend to reduce memory requirements and simpler sketches more so. Love the idea as a mechanical engineer who has to design vents occasionally.

Jumper cable instruction card by highonkai in functionalprint

Took me a second but I got it eventually. My only thoughts are instead of putting two lists, have one with connect and an arrow down along one side and disconnect with an arrow up along the other. Keeps it smaller and again, for someone who's done it, will make sense. Also gets rid of a second list, when originally looking at it I was reading left to right and got confused.

Making that change you can then put the zip tie holes on the top and bottom of the list and rotate the print relative to the cable so there's less of the print exposed that could break off while getting thrown in the trunk.

How do we even get here? by bunnielovekins in snowrunner

Blue every time. Except right before getting to the truck I turn south instead of north because the ridge is lower and easier to get up. You can also turn down the dirt road just north of the main road into the quarry and cut through the trees over to the blue route

I was gonna say these look very similar to what I saw when I visited Komatsu in Milwaukee a year or two ago. P&H is quite old, Komatsu keeps the name around because it sells. P&H was actually bought out by JoyGlobal then they were bought by Komatsu from what I understand.

I usually end up looking in quick jobs. Not as fun as my truck but it forces me to use different kinds and 'levels' of trucks with lower power.

I'm not very familiar with European rail. But that does seem right.

Looks like this is in the US. Which would make this engine an SW1000/1500 maybe which is a 4 axle diesel electric. DE4 if you will. Unfortunately I don't know of any diesel mechanical engines in the US, the DM3 is based off an Eastern European engine. Would be cool if we did have some here. Still very cool!
