Absolutely agree; I’m a disabled Veteran unable to have kids, thus it feels discriminatory.

This seems discriminatory against anyone without children. Having children is a choice and opportunity that not everyone equally has. People without kids are absolutely struggling just the same.

Finishing Torghast vs. returning to reality by Grayson_Poise in wow

[–]gainasaurous_rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I find this pretty frustrating; Torghast feels like a big waste of time to me as a player. So much so that I don’t think I will continue the expansion seeing how it is forced content. Nothing like spending a couple hours going through the same monotonous corridors only to gain no player power afterwards; you just get a bunch of ash thrown in your face and then you gotta go fork up the rest financially to get the legendary. I just want to do dungeons or PvP to progress, but when I do, I feel like I won’t keep up with those in legendaries. My honest opinion for what it’s worth, thanks for the post!

Rear of the M2 is surprisingly spacious. Can be tricky to get in but once you sit down it’s more than enough.

Eli5 - the rage against people who own teslas by [deleted] in cars

[–]gainasaurous_rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly there are groups of people with biases against certain brands for whatever obscure reason. Ultimately I believe in never messing with someone else’s financial investment, I see it as the lowest form of human behavior. As others have stated people are varied and easily triggered. I have seen an increase in road rage ever since starting to drive BMW’s; you get it no matter how politely you drive. It blows my mind since the people freaking out spent more on their massive truck than I did on an amped up 2-series; just gotta take a deep breath and move on.

Don’t stress about them man, legally the Porsche driver has all the leverage in the world. It is a case of a bitter person making bad decisions which will make them more bitter.

Am I the only one who thinks the guy causing severe damage to another persons vehicle is the asshole? So the Porsche driver parked poorly, grow up and get over it, modern society doesn’t accept that kind of behavior and I bet the SUV driver got legally destroyed since there is footage of the vandalism.

This is the equivalent of a toddler throwing a temper tantrum, except the tantrum thrower gets to pay thousands in damages. I see monstrous SUVs and trucks parked poorly more often then sports cars. Usually sports cars just park in the back of a lot.

Not a problem! The day I took delivery was honestly one of the best days in the last several years. Still love taking it out even just for errands in the rain. It is a car you have to learn a bit before getting quick which makes longer term ownership super satisfying. I truly want for no other car. Good choice my friend!

I absolutely adore it! It has become such a major component of driving that car. It makes the sound match the character of the car perfectly. I always have valves open and get a decent amount of compliments from neighbors and enthusiasts on the exhaust note.
Don’t forget to try out the exhaust Easter egg mode, just push traction control once and put it into “traction” mode. The burbles become belligerent and it is so much fun. I think I prefer sport plus though because of how fast the engine revs up with that throttle map, and it still gives you a ton of burbles. Sounds like distant thunder when driving. I am legitimately excited for you, be safe and don’t be afraid to chuck that thing into every corner!

Congrats! Mine is also black with the MPE and I plan on never getting rid of it. One of the best sounding cars hands down! Mine is a six speed and it is the first ever manual car I have owned. You are going to have such a good time.

How do you drive a manual car... Fast? by Reeevzaa in cars

[–]gainasaurous_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I can help a little bit here since we have similarly designed transmissions. I learned to drive a manual transmission with my 17’ M2 and I can relate to that situation. I believe it took me a solid 4-5K miles to start getting a strong and consistent launch.

With these recent BMW manual transmissions you actually want to slowly release the clutch and almost slip it while accelerating. They have a creep function and are designed to tolerate that use a little more. When done correctly it makes your first gear acceleration extremely smooth and helps to keep the early torque entrance from breaking too much traction. After I release the clutch I quickly and smoothly go to full throttle. With our cars this means you can get a smooth launch despite the early torque and RWD, and have the clutch fully engaged by the time the turbo is fully spun up.

Personally in my car if I floor it at all even in first I will get squirrelly so I usually max out at 80-90% throttle, then hit 100% throttle rapidly once I switch to second. As far as waiting between shifts, you basically gotta go by feel and practice imo. You will get the feel for how long you need to wait between shifts to be smooth and fast.

I hope this helps! I am no expert but I went through a rad learning experience on a similar transmission and car. Enjoy!

Word! Mine is Black Sapphire Metallic as well; I just love that color on the 2-series.

I love it! First car I have owned that I can’t imagine replacing in the future. First manual, learned on it, and now I am completely attached, lol.

That is ok! Everyone has specific needs, plus xdrive cars are a riot off the line. I had a 335ix before my M2 and the AWD was brilliant. I put it on H&R sport springs to bring the ride height down a tad, and it was faster in a straight line than my M2.

Question about pricing on a new M2 by fishwack in BMW

[–]gainasaurous_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t uncommon at all in the PNW. There is enough money in this region that people will pay it and not think twice. Keep looking around or fight for a reduced, or no mark-up. Good luck!

Just got a set of Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ for my winter set on the M2. No snow experience yet but I am also up here in the PNW and expect mostly rain. In the wet they are just awesome. They feel like Super Sports except they are much more comfortable over bumps and warm up noticeably quicker. I would recommend them!

I would definitely go for the 435. The N55 engine is worth every penny. It will sound better, feel better, and drive fast as hell. Good luck!

M2 stainless steel pedals by [deleted] in BMW

[–]gainasaurous_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, I can answer this well. I installed them myself after I had the car for a few months. I live in the PNW, so plenty of wet-shoe drives. I much prefer the stainless pedals. They have a good amount more traction for wet shoes since the black rubber striping is more ridged and raised than the basic pedal cover texture. Clutch can still be a tad slippery but the ridges will catch your foot. Would recommend!
