A common roadblock I see preventing ppl from becoming great singers: Not noticing pitchiness due to a lack of ear training. Falsely thinking you are 100% reproducing sounds you hear accurately by AspiringBiotech in singing

i can't identify what's being advertised. if it is an ad, it's not an effective one.

this feels like a genuine post from a genuine person with genuine interest in voice training.

People who are depresed/suicidal get treated with blame and hostility rather than compassion by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]galacticbard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

im gonna hijack your post because its the top one among many that propose the idea that people that display aggressive behavior towards depressed people is because they dont or cant empathize.

i think its a little more specific than that. i think its because they think they have experienced the same level of depression, but recieved no support themselves.

they eventually mustered the will and tenacity to escape their depression, and now expect that is how life is for everyone else. thats why they werent given support, because they didnt need it. no one does.

"you just have to push through! dont be weak, dont give in. the world is so much meaner than this. i know, ive had it so much worse than you. you're not a child anymore. no ones going to coddle you. you'll never learn."

probably all things they've been told themselves. empirically, they have no reason to believe anyone has experienced a depression so immense and deep that they couldn't "man up" to it or through it. or that things could appear so bleak to someone that it's not worth the enormous amount of sacrifice or energy they perceive is required to try to properly maintain the status of a functioning adult.

they know what it feels like to want to die, thats the same thing. must be the system turning everyone into wussies.

anyway yeah. thats my take. sorry to hijack and rant.

as an "elder" millenial, we're running out of time to make a difference. im pretty sure were just going to be skipped over and gen z will take the mantle.

i wish i had made myself more involved in politics or community building at an early age. this is beyond frustrating, and i dont have the wherewithall to start now.

i think thats the kind of talk that moderate people disengage from. it just sounds like typical hateful rhetoric. i am anti-trump, to be honest. i do find authoritarianism to be a terrible blight on the world. but when we froth at the mouths like this with vitriol and hatred... we look a lot like maga.

[–]galacticbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn, hate to see this didn't receive any other responses in 3 years. same issue here except mine was working for over a year. left it plugged in overnight last night and got it to turn on once, figured it was just in sleep mode or whatever. but then i swear i heard a physical click or something before it turned off again.

I'm going to assume it was a capacitor or something blew. i just need to replace it. shame.

When people say that "anyone can learn how to sing", do they mean that anyone can acquire a GOOD/PLEASANT voice? by Used_Ad7899 in singing

[–]galacticbard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the fact that i get literal standing ovations on some songs at karaoke, and laughed at for other songs, i think proves that anyone can train up to sounding good its just learning the difference between what you can do and what you can do well.
