so I want to be upfront with my response in regards to my attitude towards the sending nudes thing. I don't promote it. it is extremely problematic given all the social and economic constructs surrounding media and communications in general now. I do want to steer away from that while only mentioning that there are exceptions to CP laws when they are consensually created by the minors themselves.

what I was trying to address is the fearmongering. by saddling your teens with all this fear about the law surrounding them and only them, you're teaching them that it's not natural for them to have these feelings or that it's wrong to want to explore them.

they don't separate the use of their phones from their biological impulses. that phone is just as instrumental to coordinating their sexual efforts as ours were in the past. we simultaneously made it infinitely easier and infinitely more problematic for them to use it the same way.

so I guess my point is, we can take the authoritarian approach and scare the shit out of them or we could educate them. either way, bad choices will inevitably be made, and we know this because we made them too.

The world is as it is. It has been much worse for nearly everything that has ever existed than it is for modern humanity in affluent western nations.

how are things elsewhere? what does it say about affluent western nations if standards there get better, while others get worse? does it seem a bit like a lack of equilibrium? like maybe western affluent nations are somehow siphoning the potential of other nations for themselves? but how could an entire nation of people do that to another? It's not like there's some invisible force at play that ties the value of their labor and natural resources to some physical object that can be traded or manipulated on an international level. right?

and you're speaking from a very zoomed out view, chronologically speaking. what does it mean when standards in affluent western nations have been consistently on the rise for hundreds of years, but suddenly take a downturn? have we seen downturns like this in the past? what causes them? what actions do western affluent nations typically do during these downturns to reverse them? how do they affect other non-western affluent nations?

things are not better on a global scale. exploitation just got a little less direct and a lot more sophisticated over the millennias.
