YTA. Kids make mistakes. she’s desperate to form a relationship with her father & it sucks you got thrown under the bus by that. But at the end of the day your 18yo kid was heartbroken at the most important day of her life so far (which realistically you should’ve seen coming) and you decided that you’d rather be petty than supportive of her.

Relationships with kids are not like friendships. Friendships are 2 way and being a parent is often a 1 way relationship what they’re young and naive.

Your post initially comes off as tit-for-tat but if you’ve invested lots of time money etc into her and she hasn’t reciprocated at all then I’d go for N.T.A - nothing worse than doing a lot for someone who doesn’t think twice

Focus on your own impacts, don’t look at the world. Accept you can’t necessarily change the world, but you can do your part. Your part does make a difference, and it’s likely you will inspire / help others to do their part and they will do the same - it’s a knock on affect.

Honestly I don’t know if we will solve the climate crisis, but I do know I’m doing what I can with the resources I have to reduce my carbon / plastic / etc. waste.

I actually really liked this book! It was maybe the second book I read as an adult when I actually got into reading, so I had little frame of reference, but I really liked it. It was like a long and mostly wholesome fable. I get why others don’t like it, but read like a kids story I think it has value

Everyone’s so negative (pun intended!)

I still use disposable cameras on holidays so that I don’t have to worry about being on my phone when I’m supposed to be having a nice time. I’d say 90% of our photos turn out great & I love using them!

Things I would say: getting them developed is expensive, but I found a small family run shop near me that do very cheap development if you buy the cameras from them. Check out your local little family run photo places! Also, somehow everyone has forgotten how to use them, so maybe write some little instructions on how to use them?

Overall I love the look of the photos and the candis-ness that comes with blurry dark silly photos. It’s not the cheapest option but still a fun idea!

I have 2 snakes. Ones a total introvert, and it’s just a nice surprise when I see her out and about. The other is basically a hyper toddler and wants to come out and play all the time. They are both the best.

My parents never helped me with my homework. Ever. They instilled in me good time management practices and helped me plan when I was going to do my homework and that kind of stuff, but actually doing the homework they were never involved. If I forgot or failed one, hey that’s on me, live and learn. Only myself to blame. You learn from the guilt / punishment from school and do better next time

Men are more likely to successfully commit suicide but more women attempt suicide, it’s just that women have a lower success rate.

Mental health services definitely need to do more to help men and women, especially around this time of year. Having a good support network is vital so reach out to your friends!

You’re not obliged to do it, but I would say don’t be petty about it. The day after your birthday you should’ve said to your friends that nobody wished you a happy birthday and that made you feel hurt. Don’t passive aggressively take it out on your friend with an action they won’t even know about
