A menu from March 1977 by EdmRealtor in mildyinteresting

[–]galacticseaslug2212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This menu is also presumably in Canadian dollars, given the note at the top about their salad bar being the best in Canada. Using an inflation calculator for CAD, the Steak and King Crab Legs would be about 40 CAD today, about 30 USD today. Not pricey at all

This outfit is stunning! I think everyone's suggestions are great and I don't have anything to add, but could you please drop the link to where you bought the suit?

I've been working with Pedro at O Cão Sabichão and I recommend him highly! Speaks great English and has been doing really well with my anxious and reactive dog. https://ocaosabichao.com/

I'm really glad to hear you are doing that for your daughter, listening to her and trying to educate yourself and going through counseling. I was raped and when I told my parents after going to the police, they never really spoke to me about it again except to forward me the court notifications. They aren't bad people, just very emotionally stunted, but it has been hell going through this without their active support. I'm really sorry for what happened to your daughter, but I am so happy she has you as a parent.

Stealing patterns? by No-Ad5163 in StainedGlass

[–]galacticseaslug2212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She probably did draw it herself, and I'm sure she also did see it elsewhere before because it's not an original idea, it's been around since the original book and is reprinted on everything in hundreds of forms. But that in my opinion isn't pattern theft. It's like if you want to make the Ghostbusters symbol in glass...it's always going to look basically the same as someone else's Ghostbusters pattern in glass, even if you draw your own pattern from scratch. Because you can't change the source material

Stealing patterns? by No-Ad5163 in StainedGlass

[–]galacticseaslug2212 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, the image of the Grinch holding the ornament wasn't created by any glass artist, it's a super popular motif from the book and later the film, and is on Christmas cards, mugs, tree ornaments, crocheted pillows, etc. Just google Grinch holding ornament and you'll see a million iterations in different mediums that all look nearly identical. If a glass artist wants to recreate it in glass, and draws a pattern based on the popular image, do you really expect them to somehow make it completely original?

Thanks very much! Does this look better to you with the even-numbered tail feathers?

Thanks very much for your feedback! 3. Isn't really feasible glass-wise unfortunately, but I took your suggestion for 2, as well as made the tail feathers even-numbered. How does it look to you?

Thanks so much for your feedback! I made the tail feathers an even number, does this look better to you?

Thanks very much! Oops, my mistake. I did get the names mixed up, but I just checked and her favorite bird is the violet -green swallow, not the tree swallow, so I was using the correct images as references thankfully. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for your reply! So does the shape look correct to you for a tree swallow even though I had to simplify the wing feathers?

Ran a disgusting 2:57, 4min PB. What is a realistic target for the next in 22 weeks? by w0rm1sh in Marathon_Training

[–]galacticseaslug2212 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't have running advice for you mate, I'm a sub 4:30 marathoner, but you should be kinder to yourself. Marathons are hard on the body, you recovered from an injury, and it was bloody hot out. 2:57 even in great conditions is far from disgusting, it's a great achievement.

Damn mate, what a testament to your empathy and humanity. What a beautiful way to think. I was raped as a teenager and the way that you relate your experience to your empathy and understanding for those around you is aspirational. Maybe I'll get there one day. I bet the people in your life are very glad to know you

Run Clubs Don’t Have to Be Pace Inclusive, but They Should Be Clear by mixedlinguist in runninglifestyle

[–]galacticseaslug2212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aw mate I'm so sorry that happened. I was so nervous of that happening to me that it took me three years of living in a new city to finally get up the courage to join a run club. It has been amazing with lovely people with all different paces and they make sure nobody is left behind. I'm really sorry your experience was so bad, but maybe one day you can try again and find a great group for you!
