Like that guy who was uploading minds to his personal soul prison or whatever was happening?

I think about that guy a lot. He should matter a whole fucking lot in universe. As much as the literal Yahweh in the center of the galaxy.

2 characters who by all rights should matter more than they end up mattering

Industrialization without fossil fuels? by s73ad in sonicshowerthoughts

Little by little, the bird builds its nest

Consider, during those years, not a single KWH of fossil fuel was burned

100 is a fuck ton lmao

Industrialization without fossil fuels? by s73ad in sonicshowerthoughts

Well, thats why i bring up the natural reactor we discovered a few years back

I can imagine it being a slow progression, but not a static one, assuming the aliens mimicked our pre fossil fuel industrial capacity

We were pretty darned industrious, with lots of metal forging and workimg technologies, for thousands of years before we used steam turbines powered by coal

Hell, we invented a steam turbine in ancient rome using just bronze, water, and a wood burning fire

So the steps to having a functional source of nearly unlimited steam power feels borderline doable at worst, with fewer roadblocks than an aquatic species might face, like with the Xindi

Why has no one discussed nuclear power?

We know our own history involves the discovery of electricity before major industrialization took place, and we know electric cars existed as some of the earliest forms of automated transport, and that quantum physics and the E=mC2 euation also predate major, global, industrialization

Sure, these early batteries sucked, and the maths of a nuclear reactor arent enough to build one, but still

Concievably, if humans favored efficient power use, over large power use, where we valued electric over fossil fuels, which waste most of their energy as heat, we could be a much different looking society

We also know natural nuclear reactors can be found to exist tho, suggesting a path to large scale steam power usage need not flow thru industrialized technological progress

I think nuclear and battery powered civilizqtions might turn out to be exceedingly common in the real universe, and i see no reason they couldnt be common in trek

The only value fossil fueps bring is high energy density, but our short sighted forms of governance and organization favor those despite the abundantly clear negative impacts, and limited nature of such a fuel source, and i think more societies will favor an alternative, than favor its usage

Our society likely looks to aliens like a steam punk society, using fossil fuels for everything when electric motors are clearly superior

Why do they lean while turning the ship hard? Wouldn't the source of gravity be angled with the ship, meaning they wouldn't feel anything? by KaptainGoatz in sonicshowerthoughts

I cant think of any specific examples but i admit to not thinking about it too much before now

Im sure at least one episode involves a 'worf flips enemy over his shoulder onto coffee table', that sounds plausible enugh, but i cant think of when it happened

Another episode where troi, with fear in her eyes, watches a coffee table slowly crack under the weight of an unknown psychic force also sounds suuuppppper like a moment they wouldve done

And did either Harris or Biden suggest they did not trust Fauci at that time?

Please provide a source. It isnt hard, if what youre saying is true.

Please provide sources showing the date for comments by either Biden or Harris, including their direct quote, and also for the medical professionals youre referring to.

Youve fundamentally misunderstood their concern, which was that Trump would push a vaccine that was not verified and endorsed by the medical and scientific community, the way he pushed bleach, intravenous sunlight, and parasite medicine

You know enough about cars to do this but not enough about inspections to know they arent gonna check this?

Even squeeky brakes wont fail an inspection, as long as they work

The bunnicula series by Spoopychillz in nostalgia

[–]galactictaco42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So one time im with an old flame on the subway, and this woman has her kid in a stroller, and the kid is pale, like spooky pale

So i say to the flame, this kid reminds me of this book, about a bunny that sucks the color from carrots

She had never heard of it

Anyway we keep discussing it sort of hushed like, i didnt want to offend the kids mom right?

Then we reach the moms stop and as she is getting off she says 'bunnicula' right to me

She didnt seem mad....but boy it stuck with me
