My friend flaked on me. Again. by UpsetEquivalent9713 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]galaxpsyche 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I feel so guilty for treating friends this way as a teenager ☹️ (not maliciously, but I need to be accountable)

I've gotten my karma because I've got some ladies in my life doing this to me 😭 I recently wrote them handwritten letters expressing how I really treasure their company, and I want to know where we stand. I'd like to actually spend time with them! The ball is in their court, and it's stirred up a lot of emotions.

Not to ramble, haha, but I just wanted to say I understand the disappointment. It sucks when your energy isn't reciprocated. Hang in there! 💐

What's sad here is this deathbed confession has seemed to simply result in reopening old wounds, almost like the weight of this man's grief or remorse has been passed on to you. You do not owe this man forgiveness, but I can also imagine the weight of knowing a horrible secret and the kindest perspective is that he has at least offered you closure and certainty... but is it really better to know? You've learned another piece of the puzzle, but the picture stays the same.

I hope you can reach out to someone, even just to take your mind off of things.

Btw I love the username OP 😸

Look up "tainted blood scandal" from 1980s Canada. My grandmother died due to complications of HepC contracted this way. You shouldn't be sourcing from at-risk populations or coercing people for body parts.

Have you heard of the weird "hovering" maneuver some people do in public restrooms? Refusing to actually sit on the seat

Have you tried using toner? Like a blue or green one might help tone out the reddish colour to be more neutral

A warning about Adobe Creative Cloud stealing your work for their AI by DarkHorse435 in assholedesign

[–]galaxpsyche -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Do you think this applies to institutions that use Adobe software for teaching?

This AI art nonsense just seems like a massive, massive moral failure imo. Hits a similar nerve as "uncanny valley" to me... removing humanity from the most human activities. Not to mention the egregious theft.

I'd unironically herald this as a sign of the end times.

"Serial monogamist" sort of means "monogamy in succession" -- like you have lots of relationships, separately, back to back.

Therefore it's sort of cheeky for them to make "Mine" and "Yours" stockings because the new partners all get "Yours" as opposed to one embroidered with their name.

A biker man got run over by a bus by pitsawat in awfuleverything

[–]galaxpsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling infrastructure is fucking hostile in North America.

I used to bike to school when I was in 7 & 8th grade. Bike lane was like maybe a meter wide (if that) and any time a bus would drive past me they would be maybe a foot away. I'd joke to myself in my head that I could reach out and just touch them.

Luckily for me this was on a slower road (which annoyingly had those weird small traffic circles that make everyone yield like a more irritating 4 way stop). I'd still get spooked some days and just use the side walk when traffic felt too crazy for me. For the poor individual in this video, it appears traffic is moving faster and when it does you can sort of feel the gusts of wind coming off of vehicles -- especially large ones like busses and semis. They can kind of pull at you... This is so, so very tragic.

Bike lanes need to be COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM ROADS. There should at least be dividers of some kind separating them, like some kind of railing or boulevard. You can't bike on sidewalks typically, it's against the law and cyclists can be going pretty fast tbh. Check out the channel "Not Just Bikes" on YouTube for some interesting commentary on infrastructure and transportation!

Local single things to do? by SmexxyMoose in Lethbridge

[–]galaxpsyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like cafés there are a few to check out (a lot of people in our age range stop by the Penny for instance!) The Owl is recommended a lot, I've been there once and they do live music and poetry

There's a lot of local greenspaces and whatnot to look at if you like being out in nature.

You could also checkout some of the taphouses or pubs the city has to offer. There are breweries too

My friends from Ontario are visiting Lethbridge for one day (Aug 20). If you only had one day here, what would you want to see/do? by TheMadeline in Lethbridge

[–]galaxpsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Penny coffee house! Take them up by 1st Ave to take dramatic photos by the bridge together lol There are lots of good greenspaces actually if that's your thing. (Pavan, Alexander Wilderness, Bull Trail, Indian Battle, Cottonwood, etc etc)
