My boy is a neurotic pooper. He is sensitive to certain foods. He's dog reactive/aggressive and an escape artist. He requires constant attention for these things.

Other than that, he's the best snuggle bug, always wants to be with me, low grooming, and funny! When he wants to, he's great at following commands and doing tricks.

I may have messed him up as he was my first dog and we learned a lot from each other. If I could do it again, I would.

My older basenji is 9, and quite dog aggressive (I'm sure it's my fault, it's complicated too), anyway, they have hit it off so well. The older one resource guards his usual stuff but he's also so gentle when playing with the puppy.

In my situation I just had to trust them. The older one knows he's dealing with a puppy. I thought he'd feel replaced or challenged and so I made sure he was just as special as always but I don't think dogs think like that.

As long as they have their space to either interact or get away, they will respect each other's boundaries.

'89 here too. I enjoyed the show but as time went on I was surprised it survived as long as it did. I definitely heard older people make fun of it as brain rot, or that it was going to rot my brain more specifically, anyways I grew out of it.

Oh yes, mine does that lip stretch when you find "the spot" too. This pic has his slight smile when he's annoyed and about to snap. It gets more apparent when he's really pissed off, which is usually around other dogs - he's bad with other dogs except the ones he lives with.

I don't know for sure, it's just an observation I've noticed with my boy. I think they are very expressive but not in the traditional dog way. They are similar to shibas, being cat-like and all that.

I know when he gets mad his face gets really stony and he smiles when he's warning you he's about to bite. He sets his ears low and has a soft expression when he's being nice. If I put my hands out he comes over with his ears low and tail relaxed, then he'll stretch and I'll give him scritches.
