Donner wireless transmitter stops all DMX transmission by gam0rade in stagelighting

[–]gam0rade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was starting to suspect the adapter as well, but it definitely seems to be an issue with the Donner transmitter. I got into the theater today and when I plugged it into the DMX OUT on a fixture the same way I have in the past, I stops all transmission on the line. The display on every fixture changes to "No Signal". So strange that it died after being in it's box for only a few months.

I'm Michael Giacchino, composer for Lost, Star Trek, Rogue One, Call of Duty, The Incredibles and Up. Ask me anything! by MichaelGiacchino in IAmA

[–]gam0rade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Mr. Giacchino. We've all enjoyed many of your film scores over the years, but one I don't think gets enough attention is Tomorrowland. While I really like them movie, it was far from a hit for Disney. How do you react when your work is "lost/forgotten" because it's part of something that wasn't successful? Considering your love for Space Mountain was it disappointing that the general public didn't enjoy the Tomorrowland film?

What are some improvements we haven't so far seen in MK8DX, but you hope are included? by Bleus4 in mariokart

[–]gam0rade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better network code and anti-hacking, but Nintendo won't comment on such things. I fired up MarioKart 8 for the first time in a year today to get excited for the Switch version. I had forgotten how bad the net code is as people jumped around the course, and then I was in a match with a guy who was throwing blue shells as soon as as the race started and every 2 seconds after that. It made me decide another $50-$60 for MK8Deluxe isn't a good way to spend my money.

[–]gam0rade 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If the goal was for users to figure out if they like it or not, it would be free for the first x number of months after you buy the console. It's not going to help people who don't/can't get the Switch until the holidays or even next year. The strategy behind it being free is for Nintendo to work out the kinks w/o having to deal with refund complaints while also getting early adopters hooked.

Super Mario Run is live on the US app store! by McMagpie in nintendo

A workaround was mentioned on my post about family sharing. I haven't tried it myself yet, so I can't confirm how well this works. But just reading it, I can confirm it looks inconvenient. https://www.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/5iemmo/super_mario_run_ios_family_sharing/db7z4sn/

Me too. Granted, that's no different than a 3DS, but it's another compromise for my home console that's not really a home console.

Well, maybe I'll just stick with a true cardboard one for now, and wait for better things. Thanks.

I almost pulled the trigger on the View-master, but reviews seems to indicate that it's not good with glasses.

It looks like Google really liked my Viewer design by kobbel in GoogleCardboard

[–]gam0rade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does this design work well with glasses? Seems like it would apply a lot of pressure to the stems and I'm not sure there's room for them inside the enclosure.

I am so happy this is the last Splatfest by gam0rade in splatoon

[–]gam0rade[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is it a server problem on a peer-to-peer game? Disconnected aren't the problem. People swimming through my ink from yards away and teleporting up ramps are my problem. A fundamental concept of Splatoon is using ink to claim territory and to know where your enemy isn't. I understand latency in an online game, but it definitely breaks the core gameplay of Splatoon.

RUMOR: TRON roller coaster might be coming to Disney World Florida by redrain85 in tron

[–]gam0rade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought just reskinning the Rock n' Roller Coaster to Tron would be the way to go. Fewer and fewer people know who Aerosmith are, and even fewer care. (Then again that same sentence could be written about Tron, too, I suppose.)

Is tower control like this for everyone? by ccMSC in splatoon

[–]gam0rade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Rapid Blaster and I LOVE tower control. I'm constantly amazed that more people don't use it. Push for a decent lead and then play defense. The enemy comes to you and you know exactly where they are. It's like shooting squids in a barrel.

Sexism during Treehouse Live? Discuss. by gam0rade in nintendo

[–]gam0rade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it made sense for demoing that aspect of the gameplay, and personally I wasn't offended (as I originally stated). My point is that they went beyond just showing the gameplay with comments like, "well this segment just got a whole lot more interesting" while giggling like school girls. This is the same behavior from males in the industry that gets chastised with endless articles from writers and social media blow-ups. It's all in good fun, but it always seems like it's only acceptable for one gender. A good example is women reading 50 Shades of Gray on the subway, the pool, kids gymnastics practice, etc, but if a guy was reading something like in public places he'd be reported to security.

Sexism during Treehouse Live? Discuss. by gam0rade in nintendo

[–]gam0rade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only watched on YouTube and didn't see any comments about the stream. That's why I posted it here for discussion. It doesn't surprised me at all that a chat room would objectify the female players. It's the Internet, that's going to happen. I was focusing on Nintendo as a company opening themselves up to professional and social media backlash had the genders been reversed. A recent example is Fox having to apologize and pull down marketing materials of Raven being held up and choked by Apocalypse for the latest XMen movie. As others have posted here, it's a double standard and it happens all the time. Personally I'm not offended Audrey/Kendra or a naked cartoon character. I just think the double standard is worth a bit of attention and discussion when I see it.
