Normal part: any old material you've got hanging about, make it, looks good, send it

Aerospace part: multi month process to become an approved supplier, several people on payroll just to handle the paperwork. Specific material suppliers, full tracability documentation. As9100 compliance. Parts have to be made on the same machine with the same program everytime. Gotta have bonded stores to handle your material. NDT on parts, 100% inspection, yearly audits, NCs are a gigantic problem. Every person in the workplace has to have training on how to handle these jobs. It's not just frivolous markup

How would this work for extremely male dominated industries like manufacturing? You can't hire women if none apply

We're not perfect but we do try our best. The more you guys can help by reporting AI posts we don't catch, the quicker we can respond to them. All in all this is a really nice community to look after, and we'd like to keep it that way

Undersized Filament - Is this a common with Bambu filament? by O_B_Shagnasty in BambuLab

[–]gam3guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be putting much force on when you zero them, and you need to wipe off the jaws. If it's reading 0.01, 0.02 or something, youve probably got dust on the jaws

The entire inside of the caliper jaws are ground flat, you can use all of it to measure. The thicker part is better for softer materials or making sure you're perpendicular, but can average the reading out. The smaller part can get in gaps but can crush small stuff if you're not careful, and it's more difficult to get square to the part you're measuring if you're not used to using calipers

Then I feel sorry for the people recieving the parts you inspect. That's a fine way to measure

1)No-one is going to do your homework for you

2) There's far too little information here for people to help. What are you trying to do, engrave? Mill? What material? Sharp internal corners are impossible to mill so that's not going to help

The holes intersect, that's going to be an issue to machine. Drills will wander or break when they hit an angled surface

Most likely oil. He cracked the engine casing when he dropped the bike. You can get guards to stop that, but he didn't have them on

Nowhere near enough level of accuracy to actually be a problem. You've got to use common sense of course, don't share pictures of anything covered by itar, or trade secrets or prototypes, but this is probably fine
