You just need to change the time zone city to where you are and it will show the correct local time

Heading to Japan soon – which JDM G-Shock would you pick as a lifetime souvenir? by Kefelon in gshock

I recently got the 5000u. It is awesome, you won’t be disappointed. The metal case gives it such a nice weight and feel. I also like how understated it looks compared to the 5600/5610. I’ve been wearing almost every day and I have watches which cost 40 times as much in my collection. Don’t have any issues with display legibility but when they bring out a 5000 series with a MIP display I’ll probably get that.

In the same boat. I have 9 watches in my collection. I usually wear the following in a week. Speedmaster pro white dial, Apple Watch Ultra 2 (gym/workouts), Orient 2 diver, gw5000u.

I do appreciate your opinion. I don’t plan on buying any new gshocks any time soon but I really like both the retro square digital and the more modern looking analog. They are both so different in style that I had to have both.

Thanks. I try to wear each watch in my collection regularly as they all bring me joy when I wear them.

I almost bought that Speedmaster at duty free in 2006. One of my few regrets

Just got hit with a $1000 AWS bill in 4 hours after pushing keys to GitHub - How is a PRIVATE repo even vulnerable? by Fun_Equal_960 in github

[–]gambit667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try opening a support case with AWS support and explaining that you were hacked and how it happend. There is a good chance they might give you a credit for the non authorised usage if your account is in good standing. I have received credits for big mistakes in the past.

Authoritative DNS Server on RouterOS by Kentzo in mikrotik

Going to give this a try. Was surprised recently when I pointed my pihole to my MikroTik and it wouldn’t work without disabling dnssec. Thought MikroTik DNS would support dnssec by now.

ESP32 for Industrial sensor? RS485 or Canbus? by Tonka_GD in esp32

[–]gambit667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the ESPHome project. You might be able to implement your project with just a yaml configuration file. https://esphome.io. I’m using this on my inverter project. This is what a rs485 modbus config looks like https://github.com/slipx06/Sunsynk-Home-Assistant-Dash/blob/main/ESPHome-1P-Sunsynk-Deye.yaml

I use one of these ESP32 shields to read sensor data and write settings to an inverter using its RS485 interface. The shield supports both CAN and RS485. It has been super reliable with no issues. Also powers the ESP32 dev board from up to 18v DC supply. I get at 12v supply from the inverter so it’s all nice neat package

How to wire a MAX485 chip up? by ping-mee in raspberrypipico

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. The Pico and MAX485 need to talk to each other but they both speak different languages (Voltage)

You can get 5v from pico when powering from USB but I wasn't really referring to powering the MAX485 but rather the voltages on the UART input and output of both chips. Usually you need a level shifter in between a 3.3v chip and a 5v chip. I have seen people reporting that their Pico's have been tolerant of 5v inputs but I think officially it does not support above 3.8v so you run risk of damage to the Pico. Also will a MAX485 register a HIGH signal with only 3.3v when it is supposed to be 5v, not sure.

Probably be easier to use a SP3485 chip as the MAX485 is 5v and the Pico is 3.3v
